I doubt that's in production by anyone. I'd guess that it's a one-off race piece made by or for Mitchum and their 128 race car.

You can always contact Mitchum and pick their brains, maybe I'm wrong.

From that last picture it looks kind of like a modified stock US box with some heat shielding

Yup looks like a one off piece made for the race car. Though i dont understand why you'd replace the plastic piece with an aluminum one. Perhaps it helps keeps intake temps down.

Perhaps they had to redesign to mount an oil cooler or some such modification.

And notice the fog light housing. I want to do mine like that, but clean if it's possible. I need brake ducts!

Not a problem for me.

Also ran air piping for a potential future oil cooler as well.

I bet you could home-depot this.
Popping out the fogs is a no-brainer, and it looks like the car above went with 135i ducting based on the square/tapered shape. You could take this route but the BMW ducting will set you back significantly over the DIY route. Personally, if it's just going to be a track car, I'd figure out a way to maximize the fog light cutouts with some custom ducting. All you would need to do then is cut a whole through the stock fender liners. I actually don't see it being too complicated or expensive if you were to DIY.

I think it'd be fairly easy if you go about it the right way and have the proper materials. I've also always wanted to cut the white slot out where the fog lights are, i think it'd give it a nice look as well as a bit more area for air to flow through.

I'm debating buying the Dinan Kit if I can get a discount on it.

It looks like they painted it. Maybe a ceramic based silver for heat management. Otherwise it looks to be a stock us spec airbox.

There's a performance intake for sale on the e90 forum under the non-turbo engine for sale section.
