325i vs A4 2.0T

Since everyone was making rediculious comparisons
on other threads i thoght that i would come up with a better comparison. I was thinking E90 325i with sports package
vs an A4 2.0T also with the sports package. Which car is better in:
Handeling
Speed
looks
and anything else that makes one car better than the other.

I actuall ordered an A4 and the day before i took delevery(I waited 3 months for the car)i stopped by the bimmer dealer just for kicks, and it turns out that that i decided to get a 325i that day, i felt soo bad to tell the Audi salesmen that i decided to go with a bmw the day that my car came in and after he finished almost all of the paper work, but he said its ur decision and that was it. What a nice guy props to champion audi, in the mean time my car should be here mid sept. i am like this >>> every day! When is it gonna get here!!!!!

There are numerous threads on this already.... Audi is not a rebadged vw....
If it were this time next year the Audi will win hands down in all areas since quattro is going to be rear biased. BMW better have that 335 ready buy then. I own both products and they each have their plusses and minuses. The Audi interior is better as is fit and finish, the BMW is better in the corners. They both have ample power, Audi has the edge in technology. BMW price point is better right now, considering you have to load the Audi up to get Xenons and a Sunroof. Of course the Audi has Quattro for the snow if you need it, I am not a fan of Xdrive. I ordered a 325 with most options in RWD the way it was meant to be. Best of luck and remember DO NOT DRINK THE COOL AID!!! It is your decision, take away the badges and pick the CAR!

I have to admit I was surprised to see the Audi has more torque and at lower RPM...wouldn't have guessed that. I still thing the VAG does an amazing job with interiors too.

I have a friend who has an Audi A4 2.0 fsi turbo and my best friend who is also 17 has owned a slew of cars for his age including a fully custom MK IV Gti 1.8t with apr stage 1+++, remus exhaust, full .:R-32 interior and a whole lot of other mods including a full 337 kit and BBS RC's; he has also owned a .:R-32 with clamped exhaust, H&R sways, Intake and other mods; an X5 4.6 and currently he drives a E-46 325ci with a full E-46 M3 interior, euro tray, dinan strut, eisenmann race exhaust and much more... what I am getting at is that I have spent quite a bit of ride time in VAG cars and I can tell you from the standpoint of a tuner the Audi is bad news as there is not much forseen in the future for mods on the new A4 as the engine sucks... Not to hate on any one who loves audi's I love the A4 1.8t Ultrasport but its just not a bimmer.

the engine sucks??? The FSI is amazing, Should be easily tuned still has a turbo to mess with boost pressure etc. not sure where you got that from? Can you please list your source since you claim not be a hater? The technology is from the R8 race car, it is a 4 cylinder with more tourque than the 325 stock, and from a tuner aspect the bimmer is less tunable since it is naturally aspirated and has the vanos system. The 1.8t is very outdated, the block has been around since the mid 80's (it was actually used in the GTI back then).

I agree....the 2.0 is a tuner's dream...just like the 1.8t was 8 years ago. Stock Jetta GLI was 150HP...TT was 225.....amazing coming from the same block...and similar gas mileage!

This is BMW forum and the result is of course biased.
I'd would be very close call between the 2.0T quattro and 325i. Quattro makes a huge difference here during winter.

Audi's advantage is build quality and BMW's strong point is chassis, although both are becoming closer to each other in these areas. Engines are both fantastic.

They are the top 2 cars in this class. Can't go wrong with either one.

I think some would agree with me here,

although the audi is certainly a nice car, good ride, decent power, better handling than most,

the 3 is just more "fun"

although the audi may not be a rebadged VW, it certainly raises my eyebrows that the new jetta has the same front end as the new A4, I actually think the jetta looks a bit better since the center piece is chromed rather than black.
There's far more shared between the audi and the jetta than most realize.

it's more of a positive thing about the jetta than a negative thing about the A4

Not bad for the Audi considering it is a quattro and it has 25 less HP.

While I agree that the BMW's strong point is chassis, I have to disagree on the stong point for the Audi. If I remember correctly from the latest long term reliability list from JDPower, BMW was better than average whereas Audi was significantly worse than average. Being said, Audi makes a worthy opponent, but ranks 3rd for me behind BMW then Infiniti.

IMO, Audi has a better interior than BMW. I drive my GF's 2002 Audi 1.8T QT. It is really slow and heavy compared to my E46325i. The suspension is really bounchy too. Although with a chip and an exhaust, it might be able to smoke E46 330i.

I test drove 2.0 T and E90325i a month ago in an event. 2.0T is a much better car than 1.8T ( the engine pulls harder, the suspension handles better and much less bounchy, the steering is more direct and responsive). Without a chip, 2.0T is comparable to E90325i and better than my E46 IMO. However, if all the tuners have finished their chips, 2.0T can even rape a E90 330i IMHO. FYI, neuspeed has released a chip which can make 2.0T produce 260HP and 310TQ.

310 lb-ft of torque is insane...with 257 engine HP? Wow. All for the price of about 30k? Wow.

Guess it depends on what you read....brochure for 325 in Canada is 7.1...Audi's I got off the net...any way you look at it it's nearly the same...not a hell of a lot different...

Regardless....If Bmw's suddenly didn't exist, an A4 would be my next pick...as would it be for a lot of 3 owners....they're cousins in my book...maybe distant...but still cousins.
