Got my new car with story (runflats work!)

So I got my 325i on thursday. The car is awsome. I like the idrive but I can see some people don't. in any case the car is sooo much fun to drive. I can't stop driving it.

However, I was a bit unlucky. I was on the highway today and I rolled over a piece of bended metal. It ruined my front tire. I was sooo upset. Almost ruined my day. On top of that the dealership couldn't get a new tire for 2 weeks (they couldn't patch it upeither). But in the end they put on one of their existing tires and wheel while they order my new tire. it cost me about $400. that way I can still drive my new car. the service was amazing at Otto's bmw in ottawa.

I was unlucky but I'm happy it was only the tire. I'm glad the metal piece didn't hit anything else. Well at least I know that the tire pressure monitoring system works!!

oh yeah, the tire was completely without pressure and I was able to drive normally. it was amazing. you could barely tell that you lost some of the handling. I was impressed despite my bad mood.

I just thought of sharing. I will post some pics as soon as I get my hands on a digital camera.

Still seems expensive. I priced the tires (standard) at around $130 - 140 USD

I purchased a 4-year road hazard protection package for my tires/wheels (I have the sports package too). Given the conditions of the roads where I live, I think damaging wheels on potholes is only a matter of time. It can be had for $199 to $499 depending on where you live. IMO, it can be well worth it.

anthony h, yes I heard that the price of relplacement is around $400 Canadian. The other thing I was surprised to find out when I spoke with my local dealer was the fact that if you get any kind of puncture on a run flat tire it is toast. You run over a nail or screw and you have to relplace the tire, no patching or tire repair. I guess one should stay clear of any construction sites.
Question for you, have you ordered any winter tires for your car yet? What are you planning on buying? If I end up buying a 325i(Alpine White/Sport Pkg/A/T/Sun Roof/Alum Trim) in October I was thinking of just putting on 16" tires/rims and putting my sport wheels away for the winter.

I haven't purchased any winter tires yet. I'm waiting for the dealership's new catalogue which should arrive in the fall.
However, I asked my salesman and according to him, a set of 16 inch steel wheels with hub cap and a set of winter tires will be around $1600 - $1700 CND. I can't remember the size of the tire. I may shop around or look at the different product they offer.
hope it helps
