"Kyalami" aka burnt orange stitched BMW Perf. sterring wheel

I have searched everywhere and have come up short, looking for the OEM "kyalami" thread to restitch my BMWP wheel and seats. Had the wheel recently recovered and the stitching is slightly too dark. If I can located the thread I would like to have it redone.

Still waiting to hear back from iND, none of the shops I have contacted can source it. Reached out to BMW and they contacted a local rep. Came up goose egg for the US. Maybe it can be purchased across the pond.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers!

UPDATE: Had wheel stitched in burnt orange size 138 thread. Looks spot on Also, had the wheel recovered from black to 9002 Anthracite alcantara, matches better then the black in the pic below. Thanks Yeineken

I'm currently doing a DIY stitching mod. Burnt Orange is an exact color match. I know it's not the OEM color but it's a perfect match.

Thanks for the reply, I will check out burnt orange. I would be happy with an exact match in color and size I will do some searching...is there a particular place you pick up your supplies? Would be interested in seeing you DIY.

Here is the DIY I am following: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=938914

I got the thread from this ebay seller. Currently out of stock however. http://www.ebay.com/itm/200970799660...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
It matched perfect to my other 1M interior parts.

Check these posts:The first was forum fellow Jezzer, but, unfortunately, he's been banned over here.

Forum fellow Aussie_in_London - who knows Jezzer - might chime in, as the Performance Seats inside his 1M also feature Kyalami orange thread.

^Thank you for the links, I did reach out to Aussie_in_London; too bad Jazzer is banned

Based on what I have read and been told by others size 92 Eddington burnt orange #3025 is the closest thread to OEM Kyalami stitching. The shop that wrapped the wheel used size 138 nylon. Do I drop #92 "bonded polyester" seems 92 is what is used 95% of the time, cannot tell what size BMW uses, likely 92...for trim pieces as 138 is used in seatbelts

That looks great! Definitely interested plus Dallas Custom Steering Wheel is right next to my brother in law who also owns a BMW shop. So it that the basic BMW performance wheel wrapped in alcantara? Mind I ask what they charged you? And is the wheel as thick and the standard wheel? Really love the stock girth!

Thanks, had a communication error with the shop at first, however, they got it right the 3rd time. (Language barrier I believe) Set me back $500 total after shipping it back to be redone at no charge. The thickness of the wheel is the exact same as they used the same size padding. I had to supply the thread, which was only about $10 for a few hundred yards.

You can get the orange stipe in alacantara or leather as well...if I can find the pic I will post it.

So that is the performance wheel or stock wheel? Looks flat on bottom like the performance wheel. I thought the performance wheel was thinner than stock.

It is the BMW M Performance wheel that originally came tri-stitched along w/ the blue leather strip at 12 o'clock

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-13...l-e9x-e82.aspx

There is also this wheel available that comes cross-stitched (baseball stitching)

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-21...ing-wheel.aspx

I thought about having the shop do partial napa/perforated leather but decided to keep it all alcantara ...more OEM looking.
