I have changed the oil several times in my wife's 335 and my 135. I put in 6.5 quarts and then take the car on a test drive until the oil level reading is valid. At that point, it is usually 1/4 quart (one segment on the oil level meter) from full.

Anyone else using RP? I put in 7 Qts the other day and it was weird that it was actually purple in color. I like their apparel on their website as well, I'm not that enthusiastic about oil, but finding unique shirts is hard to come by, ha.

I apologize if I appear overbraring or condescending on this point, but to continue with the "Gee, How Much?" questions is illogical. Consider the dealer... Do they put in 6 or 6.5 qts and tell you, "keep an eye on your oil level for the next few days and come back if it reads low"?
I have owned several BMW sixes with dip sticks and do my own oil changes. They all took SEVEN quarts for an oil change. DON'T WORRY! Have your wife come out and hold your hand while you add oil if you need to! |

I wonder if we used "non-BMW approved" motor oil, will it void some kind of warranty Even so, how can they tell that it's not approved lubricants unless they take it to a lab? I've been an avid RP customer since my first oil change on my 350Z, but all this warranty crap is starting to scare me.
