Nice! How does it compare to the custom mids you had in the 135i?

1M with N55 mids.

Deeper and less rasp with more gurgle.

Bear in mind that the custom mids on my 135i, had no resonator, where the N55's retain this.

Plus the 1M axle back pipes and muffler are a totally different construction than the 135i.

True, I'm just always amazed at how the same engine can produce such different variations in exhaust sound.

Joe does it get quieter when warm? I turned on the canflap on the jb4 and on a cold start the e92 sounds real angry at idle. Just glad the old lady next door is deaf :-)

Yep..Exhaust tips.. Looked at the M3 competition tips in black chrome, but too long.. Got a quote from a Superchrome.com.au in " Black Nickel" @ $40 per tip..looks the go.

Sounds excellent! What do the N55 midpipes do? Do they eliminate a couple of cats or something - excuse my ignorance. It's a shame we cant get such things for the Z4.

Thanks.. You are correct in that the N55 mids eliminate the 2 center cats and give a little extra killer wasps as well as a deeper exhaust note from a more free flowing exhaust without the restriction around the cats.

On the 1M, it also helps eliminate the so called drone at around 2.2k rpm.

N55 mids on left and N54 mids on right.

I have some N55 mids on their way from the US, just wondering how much it set you back to get them installed? It seems like a pretty straight forward swap but I often get things wrong.

May I ask who did you order them from? And how much? I'm thinking this might be an easier + cheaper way to get the exhaust rumble I'm after

Any exhaust shop can fit them up for you in under 20-30 minutes (some may only take 5 though lol).
