Android Phones that work with MHD
I was wondering if anyone here has a list of known (preferably cheap) android phones that work with MHD as I am having serious trouble finding any sub $200.

Samsung Galaxy S5 - all day for under 200 in good shape on Ebay
Mine is a Verizon version and works great with MHD. It's actually still a really decent phone too...

My one plus 3 works great with mhd. Not under $200 though.
It is however a fantastic phone in every regard. Competes/beats the end end stuff at half the cost new ($400). |

I fairly often connect my phone for MHD logging. I've got my cable hardwired to the center console, with the end coming out by the ashtray. The S5 perfectly wedges between the bottom lip of the ashtray and the door (lid? cover? whatever...)
If such things are important to you...

I use my old Nexus 5 that bought 3 years ago. It works flawlessly for the flash.

I bought an amazon fire tablet for like $50. You have to connect it to your computer and run an app someone made to be able to put the google play store on it so you can download MHD but since I did that I've had no problems with it.

I was told that rooting any android device and installing stock Android (cyanogenmod, etc) would unlock the feature even if its locked from the factory as it is strictly software side...has anyone personally done this?

http://smartfonearena.com/enable-otg...id-smartphone/ A ROM isn't necessary, but root is. I haven't done more than connect, but I can vouch for Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 8.0, and Galaxy Tab E have all successfully discovered my ECU. Not to go too far off topic, but does anyone know if MHD purchases on one device transfer to another(via Google Play account). I haven't had an opportunity to test yet I'm personally hunting for a Sony Xperia Z Ultra. The sim slot and exclusive charge port have won me over. Not to mention it's fit into my CCC housing.

They do transfer-
You just need to be using the same google account- it locks to the google account and the VIN. That said however you can have it on multiple devices at once no problem- I have it working on both my phone and tablet. So, same google account, same VIN, multiple android devices are fine.

Also, from those that have switched, is MHD worth the investment over Cobb? While I know Cobb is a dead platform, Im more interested in rock solid reliability over raw numbers.

I bought a 7 inch Samsung e lite tablet from best buy for $99, and windshield mount from amazon. Very nice and easy to read, and no the tablet is not a distraction.
