to delete, or not delete, that is the question
soooooo many exhaust options out there, just got me a 2012 128i 'vert with the n52k manual trans
want more sound without breaking the bank or looking like a fanboy. seen everything on here from catless headers+golf tee+res/muff delete, to just a 135i muffler install. I'm thinking of the golf tee and instead of full muff delete replace with a glasspack, essentially adding a second resonator. cant really find too much in the way of others experience/sound clips of such a low cost setup other than straight pipe |

Here's my experience in terms of setups. From quietest to loudest.
1. Stock Exhaust 2. Catless Headers with stock everything else. 3. Headers, stock secondaries, magnaflow resonator and muffler. 4. Stock car and exhaust with muffler delete. Yep....#4 was louder than #3 which is what I have now. My current exhaust reminds me of my old E46 M3.

think I've decided to replace factory muffler with a flowmaster hp-2 with a 911 tip, and eventually headers, stock secondaries and resonator

I use to have a flowmaster then I chopped it off it was to quiet and droney. Got less drone with it off. This is my old setup resonator delete and muffler delete the car to me still seemed pretty quiet lol https://youtu.be/z3LJg1kjZs4 If you want more exhaust clips of my old setup hit me up on Instagram since the forums don't let you post long videos @issa_n5x Last edited by xshadowspy; 04-17-2020 at 07:13 PM.. |

Went with a muffler delete a few days ago, loving it so far. $45 + tips, and has a perfectly reasonable sound level. Gives cold starts some oomf, loud enough to actually hear in the cabin around town, and doesn't drone at all. Only time I've found it annoying so far is in the low 2k range, when the exhaust is starting to get loud but road noise doesn't drown it out. Easily fixed with music though.
Once I get everything else on the car situated I might splurge and get the 135i PE to get a more "refined" sound, but for now I am very happy with the muffler delete. |

ok, went with a flow master HP-2 as a replacement for the resonator and deleted the muffler and it sounds phenomenal, zero drone, has a decent low burble, pops during shift that arent overwhelming, gets decently aggressive at high rpm without making it sound like a farting bowl of rice, I think this is damn near perfect for a near luxury vehicle driven by someone with hair on their no-no parts
listen to it on a good speaker to hear what it actually sounds like, phone just doesnt do justice |

Flowmasters sounded great on my 88 Mustang GT and it sounds great on your 128.

It sounds pretty good, I just did a res-delete to a 135i stock muffler, I'll post a video soon when I get it uploaded, it sounds more like an e46 m3 then yours, aka a bit more raspy, but I like it

Thank you for not being a cheapskate and doing a muffler and resonator delete like, literally, everyone else. That sounds really good!

Just don't throw your your resonator. And muffler. You'll need it back when you do the headers. Which I highly recommend!
Sounds good. But still quieter that aa headers, stock resonator, and bmwPE. Which sounds like angry e46M3. And lots of burble |
