I just use four empty copier paper boxes... Free, light, recyclable.

Those were a good idea before municipalities started banning plastic grocery bags. I have one but it's not installed for this reason. |

For anyone who is dissatisfied with the cheap sliding plastic, I actually used one of my spare cans of Plastidip laying around and sprayed on an additional coat. This greatly reduced the amount of slippage in my trunk, most items stay exactly in place as when I leave, and most of the time, I drive a little spiritedly.
Kind of a cheap / quick fix to any trunk liners that are made of the slippery plastic. |

Update: Figured I would just finish off this thread with what I finally decided to do (4 years later....)
I got the McGuire-Nicholas Mighty Bag Compact Tool Storage Tote, 7-Inch http://a.co/c1zJaGQ It fits pretty much exactly into the sunken compartment behind the cargo net side compartment. I keep three spray bottles in it and there is a little extra room, plus side pockets for stuff like my tire gauge. Everything stays absolutely upright in spite of my spirited driving thanks to the tight fit and the very rigid sides of the tote. Hope this will help solve someone else's side-cubby storage woes. Cheers!

I got this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It looks great, holds a liter of oil, some tools, jumper cables, and a tennis ball for the pup. Fits right in the side trunk pocket securely.

Thanks for the pics though. That's interesting. Weirdly, if you got leatherette, they suddenly stopped putting the net there, so does that thing want to fall over at all? Sounds like no, and you even have the net pulled down. Hmm. Also, be careful keeping the tire gauge back there as they tend to be temperature sensitive and can give false readings if heated up like they might get in the trunk. Usually they'll even back out once they cool down, so won't break it, but I was warned about that with my tire gauge. |

I'm pretty stoked on how my trunk is looking these days. Lots of fun genuine BMW knick knacks.
Inventory: BMW Grocery Gripper BMW first aid kit BMW safety vests BMW warning triangle BMW Toolkit 1 qt. BMW 5w30 in the BMW Oil Bag Replica BMW Motorrad hand towel Heyco 22mm & 19mm combination wrenches CTEK Comfort Indicator (on battery) BavSound Toolkit Harbor Freight Air Compressor (consider BMW M-Mobility kit, but feel kind of frivolous). Other little things like cleaning products, another first aid kit, a jack pad adapter, tape, lights, etc. Last edited by tock172; 05-04-2017 at 02:43 PM.. |

Anyone else got anything to add? I'm looking at getting something. Been putting this off forever. My spray bottles and everything just rolls around the trunk all the time. :/
I really want something that either fits in the left or right side. I don't want something very large. :/ |

I'm looking for a fitted trunk mat (complete coverage of trunk floor) that is waterproof and has a lip so that if something spills it's not going to leak into the battery tray. Weathertech is usually good, but looks like they don't make one for this car

I have a Viair 70p compressor on the right side with a plugging kit inside it's bag. It fits in the indented area nicely and doesn't move around. On the other side, I have a BMW oil bag with a quart of oil and the other stuff it came with inside. That pins a spray bottle of cleaner in that corner most of the time. There is a micro towel or two loose in the trunk. Groceries come home in two bags stored flat in the trunk. No organizer but my trunk is fairly organized.

Bought a WeatherTech, so will see how that works. It's OTW now.
Also bought a ROLA59000 mentioned above to keep stuff stable/organized. Hope to see you around town Jim |

Like Jim D - a Viair compressor and plug kit on the right side. 75% of the remaining space is taken up by a full size spare. Spare is for around town, but, comes out on longer trips thus the compressor.

For anyone else with the ski hatch rather than a 60/40 split; there's a remarkable amount of room between the hatch and the back seats.
I've got more than a glovebox worth of stuff (specifically a fleece jacket and my flash cables and everything) in there which doesn't fly around in the trunk every time I take a corner. |

Just put the shyt inside the rim. The full size tire takes up most of my trunk. put it with the face of the wheel down (it is in a tire plastic bag) and nothing is falling out of the rim. I think they make tubs that fit inside the rim just for this purpose. I don't have the $$ for a cheap plastic tub. All my money is in the extra tire! Works great for a full gas can if you are going to the track and don't want the gas sloshing around.
