A conservative tune (like 30-40 hp increase) should not hurt the reliability.

Also, there are so so many N54's out there getting aftermarket tunes, that it's to their best interest to satisfy this market. In the long run the aggressivly tuned cars are bound to have long term reliability issues and maybe hurt resale values. This would cost BMW money to refurbish and certify them for resale warranty. If I was looking at a used 335i sedan I'd wonder, was this car tuned? Just a thought.

Once a car has been tuned, it cannot be CPO'd. There is a BMW bulletin about it.

Yeah I've known for quite some time.. but they trust me to keep it confidential until told to release a few things here and there :biggrin:

Any estimates at least on when this will be out ? is it less than 6 months ? less than a year?

All tunes are detectable (I've seen every tune in this shop) but unless it directly effects the part the tech is working on, it's ignored (at our shop anyway). One of the employees has a V3 and I've seen the JB3, Dinan, and SSTT

Release dates, pricing, and parts kits will come later for the BMW Tune

!

Detectable even after the tune is removed? I can imagine it's visible through diagnostics if it's left in during service.

For clarification purposes....this is with said tune INSTALLED...correct?

Yes tune installed. Even if you take the tune out, during CPO inspection it's going to fail because it's been tampered with

Wow, a factory tune from BMW sounds awesome. I'm shopping for a new daily driver and this would be a big deal to sway me from another Evo.
