Cheaper tire sizes 135i
I was wondering if my 135i Msport with 18 inch wheels would allow for 225/40/18 in front and 235/40/18 in the rear with no speedometer screwups etc? I don't want to get spacers. These sizes are much cheaper, obviously.

The 235/40 are taller and won't match the front. You either go 235 all around, or you can go 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 in the rear. These are popular sizes and should be cheaper than the 215/245 factory sizes.

I am running 255-35 in rear on 313s with no rubbing whatsoever.
Sorry - using Conti DW, not DWS. E88 135i Last edited by blue135; 01-08-2019 at 09:04 AM.. Reason: add comment |

The other issue is a 255 width tire is probably a tad too wide for an 8" wheel. You can do it, but there will be a fair amount of sidewall "bubble", which can reduce handling response and predictability. If you want a staggered setup and a 255 width tire, look for an 8.5" rear wheel with +45mm or more offset. Fitment on these cars is not easy unfortunately. For reference - you can use this site or others to compare how wheels fit compared to factory: www.willtheyfit.com |

I went to town fair and they said I could give it a try and they won’t let me walk away if it doesn’t look right. Im not worried about weight causing it to hit the fender. I’m in a pot hole area I’m more concerned about that. If it doesn’t work out I should be fine with the OEM size right? 245/35-18 ? |

Is there any harm with the rear being slightly higher than the front? Don't many cars have larger rear wheels anyway?

In this case on an 8" rim a 245 is a better fit than 255 anyway, 255 really would be too wide on that size rim. |
