Amber or white corona rings????

Hi all,

I am working on my second retrofit for my parent's 2008 crimson red 128i cabriolet. I have successfuly taken the lens off the housing after a two hour battle!!! And now I begin the actual retrofit of bi-xenon projectors inside of the halogen housing.

I have not come to a decision on which colour corona rings I want to go with. I think amber will catch many eyes and have an intimidating factor. But white is fresh like a brand new pair of Air Jordans.

With either colour corona rings, when they are off the corona rings will have the white phosphorous coating, not like the yellow I have for the retrofit on my 1er.

I am trying to find some high quality photographs of amber since the white can be found on any new bmw catalogue.

Some help, please.

What was the process you used to separate the lens from the housing?

Equipment needed:
heat gun (blow-dryer will not suffice)
flat head screwdrivers
utility exacto knife
big pair of balls

My process:
I started at the top middle, warmed up the plastic and the perma-seal for about 10 seconds some inches away. I then took an exacto knife and cut as much as I could. Heated back up and took my flat head and lifted up the plastic housing on top. Heated up again and forced my flathead screw driver behind and underneath the lens. Heated up a lil bit one more time and then lifted the lens from the plastic housing.

Went from corner to corner, on top then on bottom. Then I lifted the side that is closest to the kidney grills, and finished by prying apart the outside corner. Even the plastic edge of the housing is bent, I can reheat and mold back into what it originally was. I probably could have done both in an hour if I was experienced and wasn't afraid of breaking the lens.

If I had a soldering iron with a cutting tip I would have done this in a heartbeat!
