Agreed 100%. Okay for a Honda not for a BMW.

Paint the top side and leave the underside exposed so when you pop the hood you can see the exposed carbon.

Another vote for paint, but try and leave some of the CF exposed, like the vents and possibly the m3 style bulge (if the painter can do that cleanly).

I am definitely leaving the vents as exposed CF, and considered doing the power dome, but I'm not sure that can be done in a way I'll be comfortable signing off on

I don't know if an unpainted power dome would look good. I will guesstimate your estimate is $400 for painting.
