I'll admit to a bit of bias against Terry, but this would go for any tuner or salesman of any kind. You simply cannot have (monetarily) interested parties moderating a forum and expect free and open communication. |

And I did. Very interesting, but there is a huge information gap here. I know there are a lot of guys on e90post.com who are only interested in the biggest dyno number they can get. I really wouldn't be surprised if one of those dudes melted something, but I would be surprised that that wouldn't be reported there.
Excepting the Vishnu vs. Terry fanboy debate, the members of that board seem fairly forthcoming with their experiences. |

I've been a regular on the e90 and bimmerforums and I have never read an actual blown engine thread. It's always a friend of a friend's cousins brother in law's uncle... This goes for all products. In fact, I've read links to evo.net and other import turbo forums and have never found an engine that failed specifically to Vishnu. I found a couple instances of blown engines but it ended up that the owner had modified the tune in some form or fashion. I have no worries with any of the current N54 engine mods (bolt-on or engine management). They all seem to be as safe as mods go.
I would like to say that the whole Terry thing is outrageous. He's someone I wouldn't even shake hands with. His product may be great (because of the money) but he is slimey! Just my opinion formed from the last year of reading his dribble. |

Dang, you ripped the words right out of my mouth. I don't trust Terry further than I can throw a 135i. I beta tested the PROcede v2 on my 335i and set up a SE Vishnu BWM dyno day for several 335i owners way back when the cars were running 1.45. Most have now upgraded to 2.0 and I have yet to see anyone with an issue. The PROcede fueling values are richer than stock, so I am not worried about anything "burning" up. I am production week 7 on my 135i, and will PROcede it immediately once I am cleared to do so. If a few of you are afraid of "blowing your engine", you can watch me thrash my second PROcede powered N54 without it missing a beat. I ain't skeered. All you'll be missing out is reliable power gains if you hold out. |

Since I'll be running SCCA Solo stock class in 2008 I can't mod the N54 this season, but I'll be watching for your and other's results.

Actually that Dinan reflash looks the most appealing at the moment, assuming your 135 comes with the factory external oil cooler. (Dinan oil cooler is retardedly overpriced...)

It does look like a good option. It's a tough choice between Vishnu and Dinan. On one hand, Dinan is easy to add and the power is very good. On the other, Vishnu costs less, can add other mods for increased performance and is user adjustable. Choices Choices! The N54 is truly a great engine!

I have been on E90post since Nov 05 (2500+ posts) and have never heard of any piggybacked 3 series blowing up.
I would go Proceed simply because over 50 cars were dynoed and results published right on E90Post. The prob IMO with the Dinan is you can't take it with you. I lease and would take it out, sell the Proceed or put it in a new N54 car. This is obviously also the case for the other piggyback tunes. |

I had coffee with the official distributor of GIAC in Australia and he said that they will have something for 335i soon and hence our cars. Anyone knows any more about it? GIAC has got a very good reputation amongst the Audi/VW community, as their products are great.

Rumors of a Conforti Shark Injector are coming out too. Jim has ooodles of experience with tuning BMWs and will be yet another tuner to watch. The good thing about his Shark Injectors is that they are very easy to reflash your car, and just as easy to load your stock settings back in. On the other hand, because it's something you don't bolt on, he limits the use of it to one car, programmatically, and it's not transferable to your next car.
GIAC tunes have been very seemlessly integraded in Audis, including using the stock wiper stalk to switch to different maps. (pretty slick, IMO) I'm just glad there's a lot of options for us, and there are more coming! |

On my F350 Powerstroke, I would download the OE program, then upload the new tune. When I returned for service i would upload the OE program. As long as you put the truck back to OE, the handheld was free to work with any other truck. In fact I sold the device for 75% of what i paid. It's unfortunate that these handhelds for the Euro cars don't behave the same.
