Talking E82 1M Retro-Fit Homelink & Compass Mirror COMPLETE !

So after getting annoyed at the whole NON compass non homelink mirror im doing this DIY

Heres what you need:

- A homelink mirror preferably the 3 series e9x mirror (same mirror as 1m)
- patience

NON Home link mirror (top)
Homelink & Compass Mirror (Bottom)

So heres what my Harness looks like on my
2009 e90

1M Harness

HMMM looks the same 10 PIN connector slots 2,3,4 open hmm okay

MAKE SURE BOTH VEHICLES ARE OFF (NO POWER NO ACCESSORY OFF!)

Step 1
Remove the mirror covers on left and right sides of the mirror

PLEASE BE GENTLE THESE ARE DELICATE JUST GENTLY PULL WITH YOUR FINGERS

Step 2
Turn mirror clock wise (BE CAREFUL AS YOU CAN PULL THE MOUNT OFF OR CRACK WINDSHIELD) mirror will come off

Step 3
Disconnect Mirror plug there are 2 tabs North & South on the mirror

Step 4
Go to other vehicle repeat Step 1

Step 5
Go to other vehicle repeat Step 2

Step 6
Go to other vehicle repeat Step 3

Step 7
Connect the 10 PIN connector to the other vehicle that will be receiving the homelink mirror

Step 8
Install homelink mirror in vehicle, place the mirror on the mount and turn counter-clock wise AGAIN BE GENTLE it will snap snuggly into place

Step 9
Re-install caps again BE GENTLE DONT FORCE the rubber gromit at the top will annoy the hell out of you make sure its lined up

Step 10
Start vehicle verify operations

Step 11
Re-install a replacement mirror into other vehicle (IF NECESSARY)

ENJOY !!!!

Thanks BMW for installing the harness but no mirror

Thanks, but holy cow, that one at 240 is out of stock and everywhere they are $400 and up. That's a little more than I want to spend when all I really want is the Homelink option. Any other suggestions?

From my research, you need 51169192321 if you have the convenience package. This part has the 315MHz remote which is necessary for the factory alarm.

If you did not get ZCV with the alarm, I believe you can use 51169192335. This is the same (auto dim, alarm led, homelink, compass) but does not have the 315MHz remote.

These are the current part numbers with the newer low profile alarm LED. The older parts with the "clown nose" style LED should still work if you don't mind that look.

If you did not get the convenience package which part # do you need? AND can this be done at all if you don't have that package? (neither Convenience or Premium)

Anyone done this when they needed the retrofit wire? I'm ready to pull the trigger but would appreciate tips from anyone that has added the homelink mirror to a stripped car.

Yes, i think a lot of people are like me and didn't want to pay $2K for a package just so they can have an integrated garage door opener!

Let the hacking begin!

I think Ill just keep my garage remote on the little shelf in the door side storage. That's where it sat in my 135 and worked fine. I would love to do this, but I would rather spend $300-$500 on a mid pipe.
