I've driven my 135 Coupe over 19,000 km and it has proven to be almost problem free and very tight - rattle free. The only problem was except a cracked 3rd rear light that was replaced by the dealer immediately.

To keep my Coupe problem free, I change the engine oil every 5,000 km and I changed the manual transmission fluid at 15,000 km. And I wash it MORE than occasionally.

The N54 engine is truly amazing. This car is definately a 'keeper'.

Bruce

I have an easy fix for the sun roof rattle. Wax the inside painted lip of the sunroof opening when the sunroof is open. That will fix it.

I agree that frequent fluid changes are a must, and so is washing your car. Do you plan on doing the transmission every 15k? I wouldn't think that would be necessary.

But all of what you described above wouldn't help some of the problems some of the guys have reported with creaks and rattles...that just sounds like defective workmanship to me? Those are the kind of things that should make someone mad...when you've done everything you should to keep the car running but little things that pop up. One person mentioned they've been to the dealer 5 times in one year...that would be inexcusable even in a brand new Kia. Hopefully this means that they will iron out all the bugs in the first year and their servicing will be less, as opposed to looking forward to even more frequent visits as the car gets older...

none of those problems with my car so far (knocks on wood)

my car is still a bit new though, and I find its rougher edges are smoothing off.

My car has a build date of 04/08 and has 3K miles on it. The only issues I've had are the 3rd brake light cracking and a defective driver's side view mirror (double vision). An occasional rattle in the dash if I go over a big bump, but all in all it's pretty quiet for a convertible. Seemed noisier at first - but then again I have the top down 90% of the time.

I have had my 135 coupe almost a year now and it is the best purchase I have ever made!
My only problem is a self inflicted problem. I ordered Jet Black for the color. Looks great but a pain in the but to keep it looking nice.

-Occasional rattles in the backseat, middle plastic thing.
-Occasional creaks on the hard plastic hood over the gauges.
-Creaky armrest that supposedly has a TSB out there for a resolution, but I don't feel like dropping by the dealer (or remove my mods).

(The above go away if I just give the pieces a nudge)

-Tiny tiny rattle on door/B-pillar in cold weather, but most of the time it's not there.
-Clutch pedal developed a squeek on the return spring, but quickly resolved with some lube.
-I also get some weird random electrical buzz from the speakers but quickly goes away (haven't heard this for a while though).

Other than that, the car is as solid as it could be for a European vehicle.

How many miles... I've got 15k and I've developed no squeaks or rattles... cept the squeak when you get into your car and the e-brake is on... And be honest... squeaks and rattles really dont supprise me either...

Every car is goign to to develop those sooner or later.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but BOTH keys are supposed to be used to keep their charges, so if you're not alternating keys, one of them can lose their charge. Just in case that might be the problem with the dead key.

Now for my major problem. My audio doesn't always work (as per my Non-Working Audio thread). That's how I even came to notice the sunroof rattling. That is a major problem to me. I love my tunes, or talk radio in the morning. I am eagerly awaiting the fix to be released for this.

here's something different but can be annoying. my car's radio has a tendency of lowering the volume slightly when I take a sharp turn to the left. it doesn't happen every time but it does happen.

it hasn't gotten on my nerves enough yet to bring it in to the dealership.

I came off an Audi S4 that rattled way too much for a $57K car. The dealer told me they don't look at ANY rattles after 12k miles.
This car is a lot better than either of my Audis. My dealer does try to find the rattles I tell them about (just one so far) and if they can hear them they try to fix them.
I don't find my car jittery at high speed although the suspension could be tighter.
The run flats do suck but I bought the warranty so that's handled and they give me a loaner if they don't have the tires in stock.
Even when I owned a Porsche the service wasn't as good as that of BMW.

I think I've always noticed a "rattle" from inside the passenger door or thereabouts, but I've never been able to really locate it since I sit on the other side. Yesterday when I was driving I noticed my driver side door was starting to rattle the same way as well! It sounds like it's coming from my shoulder height but kind of behind me, but it sounds like it's IN the door, so I have no idea what it is...

Also my sunroof started making a grinding noise when I "tilt" it up, so I guess I'll point all of these out next time I put it in for service =\
