Broken downpipe stud help!!! N55

Hey all I have a quick question hopefully someone out here can give me some insight. I have a 2012 135i. Im in the process of installing my new berk cat back exhaust. When removing the stock midpipes from my stock downpipe i snapped one of the studs on the DP(not sure how I only snapped one they are unbelievably rusty). Now i have looked everywhere and have came to conclusion that these studs are not a replaceable part. I know I will have to somehow get this stud off of the DP and replace it with nut and bolt. My question is does anyone out here know if these studs are welded to the dp or are they pressed in? They look like they prob are pressed in but I was wondering if anyone has any Experience getting these out. Drilling them out wouldn't be an issue but I don't want to waste my time sweating on my back under the car with a torch and a hammer gun for an hour to just realize they are not removable. Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm on my phone now but will try to post some photos when I get home. Thanks all

As far as I know they are press fit. Bet they are heavily tapered though so it will probably take a hell of a lot of force to punch it out. Do you have an impact hammer and punch?

Yeah my plan was to heat it up and give it hell with an impact hammer...

Id try the impact hammer quickly first, if it doesn't look like it's going to budge, just drill the bastard out.

Another thought, could always leave the exhaust off at the DP, then just swap in a cheap known good fitment catless DP and fiddle with the busted bolt whenever you feel like it.

UPDATE---

These studs pop out way easier than i thought they would. Turns out they are pressed in and all you need is some heat and a hammer gun.....

Had the same problem working on an N52 powered F10. At least on this downpipe the area is more sturdy than the thin pipes of the N52

Nice work. What did you use for a replacement?

My exhaust came with extra hardware in case you had a aftermarket dp with no studs, no I just used one of the extra nuts and bolts.

Glad it was easy for you. It happens all the time I hear, but never found any good instructions on how to get them out. I tried drilling them out, used a bunch of PB Blaster and tried to hammer them out, and eventually gave up after hours and hours
(literally) of trying. I eventually took it to a muffler shop and they did it for me in about 30 minutes. Heat is key I guess....and a hammer gun.

I've had this happen before. With pressed in studs like that I've used this guy to get them out (it's really just like wheel studs on most cars):

Makes quick work of it, especially with a little heat and pb blast.

For anyone with limited tools,

A socket larger than the head of the stud and a C clamp can also work.
