Talking Skyline Drive Cruise! (pic heavy)

chris_flies organized a meet for us DC/MD/VA people this past Saturday!

We first went to a go-kart place, then to Italian food, and after that onward to Skyline Drive in Shenandoah. It was a bit chilly but we all had a great time, except the Audi that tried to keep up lol...... (last pic in the thread)

If anyone is interested in joining us on future meets, we have a LOCAL Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/916833608328620/

...and a 1Addicts page at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/720247235008776/

This is, by far, the most fun I've had driving my car outside of a track day. The blast up 211 to Shenandoah was SOO much fun. I wish I had my phone mounted up for video when I took off up that hill. That was a ridiculous amount of fun for me, and made me appreciate my car immensely (it's just built for those kinds of roads). I pretty much had more fun going up and down 211 than on Skyline Drive itself. For the next time, I want to get us onto some more roads like that...

And that poor Audi. Ouch. Audi's gonna Audi and terminally understeer into a mountain...

Thanks to you and everyone else that came along, it was a great day to not be in an A4. The skies were perfect for photos!

After 211, if you go to Luray and exit the freeway, turn left, then take the first right onto 675, continue to 678 and get on 55 40 miles later you end up in Front Royal. While not the same as 211, 675/678 are 55mph very fun roads.

The North end of the park (Front Royal entrance) was closed due to the snow on Thursday, so we went down 340, to the West of the park, and blasted up the backside of 211 (which was amazing) and entered there.

Ditto! Was definitely one of the best cruises I've been on. The small group was nice honestly, less stress to keep things organized.

We'll definitely have to check this out, I saw that on the map but didn't know what it was like.

I'm already filing through Google Maps for back roads that we can take instead of Skyline ($30 was steep for an hour of driving in a 35mph zone) in the general area. It might be a good idea to meet for breakfast, grab gas and a picnic lunch or something, and head out for a morning in the hills, then come back in the afternoon, go drive go-karts, grab some dinner, and head our separate ways from there. I really enjoyed the small group and having a little more variety in the cars (not that 1'ers are boring) that were there.

Clean roads, lots of twists, a few elevation changes. Great motorcycle and sports car road.

Hahaha the best thing about doing this stuff in the winter is no hikers/bikes to worry about. We play it safe year-round anyway

Me: You'll have to twist my arm
You: *Breathes*
Me: OKAY! I'll do it

I'm down! Lemme know when...

We're safer than our Quattro-driven friend, that's for sure!
