Lightbulb 128i Rear sway bar missing?

I was looking at sway bar upgrades. I used to own a 325i and it had rear and front sway bars.... i was doing work on the rear suspension and noticed theres not rear sway bar.... ? I'm clueless...

I'm looking for information about this but can't seem to find it.

It has the location on the rear wheel hub to screw a sway link but nothing else located on the subframe to mount a sway bar.... its just... "missing" ....

Would i be able to add a sway bar, should i? or is it unnecessary on the 1 series?

The rear sway bar should have been included with the Sport or M-Sport Package. IIRC, the non-sport models did not get a rear sway at all.

On the 128i only the Sport or M-Sport models got rear sway bars.

Yes all m sport 128's got rear sway bar. Only the non sport e82 didn't get the rear sway bar. This isn't the only difference between the e82 non sport , and e88 non sport 128. All convertible 128's got a rear sway bar sport and non sport. Yes, you can add a rear bar on your non sport e82. You just need all the additional hardware to mount it. Turner sells the complete hardware kit.

If you do decide to throw a rear bar in there TMS(Turner Motor Sports) has a kit that has all of the mounts, nuts and bolts, and end-links for the install. It is all OE BMW stuff too. That is what I did when I put mine in.

*** i didn't realize someone already mentioned the Turner Kit. Another note I had to run a tap though the knuckle where the end link goes in. My car has not seen the snow but after 5 years of water the threads got a little buggered up. I don't remember the size, but I pulled the rear toe link and tapped it from the rear side of the knuckle. It was a straight shot from there.

I thought all the base E82s were sport models, as they all have the sport steering wheel.

All 135's have the sport suspension. The sport or m sport was an additional option on both the 135 and 128. Does your car have the sport seat?

The Sport steering wheel was included on the base 128i. Do you have shadowline trim and sport seats? Those were included with the Sport Package, along with Style 262 wheels and the M-Sport suspension.

Oh, okay. I thought there was a base steering wheel somewhere in the mix, but forgot about the base vert, which was also the only 1er in the US to come standard with 16" wheels IIRC.

Yes, amazing how many things are different between the 128 e82, and e88. Steering wheel, base 16, or 17 inch wheels. The exhaust because of the bracing. The deck lids. No rear sway on base e82, rear sway on e88 because of the extra weight in the rear. I'm sure I'm missing other differences too.

No shadowline. So what is added on top of all that in the M-Sport package?

I don't know all the things it adds. I know there are threads on here that will give you that info.

For the 128i, the Sport Package included Style 262 wheels, shadowline trim, sport seats, sport suspension, and increased top speed limiter.

The M-Sport Package included all of the above, substituting 207M wheels for the 262's, and added the body kit, anthracite headliner, perforated-leather-wrapped M-Sport steering wheel, matching perforated-leather-wrapped e-brake handle and M-shift knob, M dead pedal, and M door sill plates. Automatics with M-Sport also got paddle shifters, which I think were available with the Sport Package, too (but at extra cost).

Very much appreciated! Now I wish I had M-Sport after reading all that
