How much should our factory Alarm cost?
During the finance paperwork, it was offered to me at 775.00 installed. That's nuts! Then I read someone had theirs installed from the dealer for about 350 bucks.
What should we be paying for our dealer installed alarms? :iono: |

Mine was $600 installed. You can buy them for about $200 and do the install youeself, then have the dealer program it - for about $200.

I am debating whether or not to install an alarm in my 1. i do not have comfort access or lojack, so i was planning to just do a normal alarm installed by my dealer (classic BMW of plano) for $385. my question is: IS IT WORTH IT? all the alarm is gonna do is make racket. will it really deter a theif if he can see my passport 8500 x50 in the windshield? HELP!

Don't think an alarm will gurantee anything if you leave it in plain open view. However, if a thief sees an alarm on, and can see nothing visible that he can quickly smash and grab, he may move on to the next car. If you leave anything visible, even a pair of sunglasses - they may decide to go for it - depending on when they had their last fix, and how desperate they are. You have to plan for the fact that crack heads and meth heads have had much of their brains destroyed by chemicals, and they no longer have the ability to reason or feel guilt about anything. |

I'm in the same situation. I can't decide if I want an alarm but having a useless red bulb on the bottom of the mirror is a bit persuasive.

A previous car I drove had a large console storage compartment - I kept a loaded mousetrap in there in case anyone started feeling around for anything valuable. I heard a story once of a guy in England who kept a live Cobra snake in his exotic Jaguar. It sat coiled up in the front seat. His girlfriend had to sit in the back seat. He never had his car broken into. |

I prepaid before delivery for my alarm. The cost was $337 installed. This price was posted on my dealerships website, so they could not give me any BS. They did of course give me BS about it being more than that, but had to give it to me for that price. Only problem now is they cannot install yet due to software issues.

I'd be happy with something that would FLASH a red "dummy light".
Who carries them? PEP BOYS, ebay or AUTOZONE maybe... ?

I'm picking my car up tomorrow without the alarm installed- The dealer said they didn't have the software yet... what's up with that? He did say when I brought it back the charge would only be the $250 listed on the website under options. (I forgot to add the alarm when having the car built- oops- worth the 10% insurance discount though)
