Usb flash drive reseting after power off ?

Hello

I'm using a 16Gig USB flash drive and i'm experiencing some minor issues. Am i the only one ?

- When i turn the car off then on. Sometimes it stays on the same music, sometimes it restart to the first MP3 of the drive.. (i'm tired of Abba each time i start the car:iono:...). I've not yet been able to understand how to make it stay always at the current MP3. It seems that turning off the music before turning the car off doesn't improve the issue.

- Some mp3 can't be read. It seems random. Often some mp3 of one album will be read fine while others will be skipped (they used the same encoding ...). Really weird..

So anyone has the same issues ?

Thanks

Xavier

This does seem odd, but there have been cases of incompatibility with some USB sticks. Have you got a smaller 2GB or something you can try to compare? You may find it's something to do with that stick ??

I had similar issues running a cheap SanDisk flash drive, replaced with an OCZ and everything works fine. The only time the playlist resets for me is when I pull the flash drive out of the car. Make sure you are running USB 2.0. Also double check to make sure all the problem mp3s run correctly on your desktop and it is not a ripping/encoding issue.

Maybe your 1 just likes ABBA?

Yeah, I had a somewhat similar problem running an old USB 1.0 drive that I had laying around the house. It would play 30 seonds of music and then just hang up. I borrowed a friend's Sony usb 2.0 and it worked much better, depending on the bit rate of the song. So I ordered a 32 GB Patriot which is a very high speed drive (180X) and am using high bit rate (VRB) WMA's and have not had a problem. It does take a minute to load the directory when I first start the car or switch to usb, but I have over 4,000 songs on it, so that is not surprising. However, it does pick up where it left off the last time I was listening to the usb. Just get yourself a high quality and FAST USB drive and it should work fine.

Thanks for your feedback everyone.

I went to bmw and asked them to look at the issue without any results... but they loaned me a 335 with the usb port and ... same issue using the same key..
I'll try another key but the key i am using is a brand new 16gb 180x, it's not an old or a USB 1.0 one....
