The problem is the cash price is way off for the vette and the 135, as are insurance, fuel, financing, and taxes. This is the reason i don't want to rely on Edmunds True Cost to Own. I like your thinking though.

But i think its wrong to say the Corvette isn't a luxurious ride, because it is really a GT car thats so comfortable and effortless to drive. The 135i seems to me to be more sporty. Quality wise you are probably right. There are definitely some cheap parts on the vette. |

I just drove my friends C6 and I own a 135 since 2 days ago. They should not really be compared, 2 different cars for 2 different reasons, and the differences are obvious.
The only general statement I can make is that the 135 is easier to "get a grip on" and the C6 has a sweet brutal feeling drivetrain. The clutch on the vette is just awesome while the 135 is too smooth and will make you fall asleep (if you are an enthusiast). Apples & oranges |

Well pardon me to intrude. But, if some cargo space is what your looking for. Highly consider an 2001-2002 Z3M. Lots of room, weighs much less than current Z4M, will always get looks due to rarity, amazing car overall, sky is the limit for mods, can easily pick up very low miles Z3M for 20k. This may seem VERY off topic, but after driven one (S52 only) I am sold. I will own one at some point in my future career.

my boss is a vet guy, loves the things, maybe I'm not old enough yet, but I dont want to give my my back seat for a few tenths in the 1/4 mile. It's a fair comparison as far as performance, I'm not sure if the vet posters on that other forum have driven a 135i yet, it seems like most have not, because of the comments that were made, they dont realize how close they are on the street.
I had the c6 in the list, it's not apples to oranges, like you I directly compared them, with a bunch of other sports cars and coupes, I had a list of about 10 cars, the c6 and the cayman S were the only 2 seaters on my list, the rest were coupes with back seats. For me the interior and ergonomics were the main issue against the c6, however that engine makes up for that, so it came down to the back seat. The zo6 interior seemed nicer, but I never got used to how high the center console and shifter are, I prefer the bmw controls and locations, and that is a very big deal because that's what I'm using/touching every day. Size was also an issue, I prefer smaller cars, the c6 is pretty large, but it feels really large, I did not enjoy driving it because of that, or the zo6 my boss owned.

It kind of sounds like you are leaning to the vette, but I can tell you it isn't that hard to get 30 on the highway with a 135. I did it on a level highway for about 60 miles. 30.5 to be exact, I was doing sixty, if you are willing to drop to 55 it would be even better. Not to mention city driving is at least 2-3 mpg better. At any rate, I wouldn't make mpg a large factor in this decision, just which will be the best car for your needs.

I keep flip flopping between them. One week im all for the vette, and this week i made the mistake of looking through the Official Monaco thread and im back to the 1. Shoot, with all my flip flopping i could have ran for president.
The thing that keeps me looking at the 135 is that its better built, has nicer features and good safety, and no problems with servicing for at least 4 years. I was watching jeremyc74's adaptive headlights video on youtube and i just love hearing the engine. Its going to be a battle till the end. We'll see what happens. |

Is it true that you have to buy from your local dealer to be able to get a loaner from them when the cars goes in for service? Is there some universal rule from BMW or does this change on a dealer-by-dealer basis?

since many years ago, since 16, (I'm not 16 anymore LOL) I always said I would have a vette someday. Well that someday came and I own a 135i and I've not looked back.. well, except in my rear view...
I'm on day 5 of ownership - loving it - period. And, yes the sound, fit, finish, and smile factor are off the charts in my opinion. but, your personal preference will prevail...best of luck in your 135i LOL I will miss the autobahn when I return to the states, that's for sure. What part of KY....

Funny you are in atlanta, the CA that told me this was from Global Imports off of 285. He said they only service and give loaners to owners who buy from them. I smelled BS but i want to clear it up. Maybe i should ask dbtheo.

To my surprise I found out the Corvette is only 2.4" longer and 3.8" wider with a wheel base that is 1" longer. Very deceiving since the Vette looks quite a lot bigger. Maybe because the 135 is almost 6 1/2" taller it looks shorter.
