If you want to let it go so badly why do you keep tyring to defend what you said? Why should I let it go when you came into a thread and started making assumptions about people, saying they were helpless? What you should do is just admit the fact that you didn't bother to read what was being discussed before you posted instead of making this lame attempt to justify what you said. :iono: |

I probably will regret to answer you again.
I did read the thread, but maybe i was to quick to answer since you and maybe others was so offended. I still stand for what i wrote even tho it maybe came out a litle wrong. I didnt put so much in to it s you probably did, and i think i have to answer when you ask me a question. Thats why i answer with what you call a lame attempt to justify what I did. No wonder there are wars going on in the world...

Wow some mighty overreaction here :iono:
ANYWAY... In winter here in the UK where I live, salt and other contaminants get real bad, and I can get through a whole washer reservoir in a week at the height of atrocious weather. I used to get washer fluid at the dealer (same reason, stuff seemed to get my windscreen real clean), but at £8.99 for 500ml, it seemed a little steep, since Halfords and other such places sold "branded" (Rain-X amongst other brands I tried) stuff for nearer £5.99. Tried them all out on my E60 M5 for about 5-6 months, I couldn't see much of a difference... IMHO, the dealer stuff is just typical BMW "priced up" OEM stuff....

I found this mix works really well in the UK during winter.
10% Antifreeze 70 % Mineral water , not tap water (Limescale content high in my area and leaves stains) 5 % Washing up liquid (fairy works well) 15 % Halfords windscreen washer fluid. I never get any smears and splattered bug marks just fall off.

I tried the Rain-X stuff when it first came out and it left a residue on the car. I'm not sure if it still does that though. |

Same is my experience. Also the gas stations have wery steap prises on the same washer fluid you find in you local store... 50nok vs 10-15nok at the local shops. I also use rain repellent on my windows.

WOW that was my post about getting it free (apart of maintenance), can't believe it ballooned like that. But in any event I was just trying to let the OP and others know they shouldn't have to pay for it if they are getting it from the dealer. It’s supposed to be apart of the maintenance plane.
Now going to the dealer just for that could be a bit wasteful in gas and time unless you live very close to them. But if you’re going in for service then might as well have them fill it up. I know my dealer has offered to fill up 2 jugs if I bring them as mentioned above they don't have it in separate jugs there its pumped like gas from a big tank.

Holy $hit
All I wanted to know was how to fill the bloody washer reservoir. Thanks to the one or two responses (out of 35) that actually pertained to my post.
I did stop by the dealer. They did fill my washer fluid free of charge (all 6 quarts of it). There is no fill line, you simply fill it to the top of the fill 'neck'. And the refill I got is the good stuff, premixed with washer antifreeze, that was in the car when I took delivery. It's faintly blue, but looks clear when spraying on the glass, and it has that interesting smell that others have complained about, but I kinda like it. Cheers! Nick |

By The Way...
another reason for going to the dealer for this is that you would have to buy 2 jugs of fluid at an auto parts store in order to fill the 6 quart reservoir (then have 1/2 a jug left over. My dealer had a portable container with a pour hose filled with the stuff that was able to fill my reservoir on a single shot.
It also helps that I happen to really like the BMW washer fluid; it's streak-free, anti-fogging, cleans bugs, sap, and dirt well, and won't freeze. Rain-X is okay, but with Auto-Wipers, who really cares? :iono: Just food for thought. |
