Saturday / Sunday

so a quick question for anyone out their who knows some information about how the bmw shipping / prep center stuff works. My question is: say your car has arrived at the prep center, and they do what they have to do to it quickly and then send it out. if its a saturday/ or even a sunday, does it still get onto a car to be shipped to your dealer? thanks guys.

I would be suprised if the import vehicle processing centers work weekends. That is not likely. Typically there will be roughly one RoRo vessel arrival per at BMW's major US ports. Thus that will allow enough time for the VPC's team to work the inbound autos from that vessel and still have the weekend off. However, I am sure during peak periods flex may be needed for extra hours. But not typical. Combine that with the fact that most port labor is Unionized and you can see certain limitations creaping into the equation.

It took 4 working days from when the car was delivered to the prep center to being delivered to the dealership I picked it up at.

Be patient

Mine was offloaded the evening of Thursday, July 2nd and arrived at the dealer in Virginia on Tuesday, July 7th. Someone was doing something over a major holiday weekend.

They are only allowed to unload 300 cars a day per union contract. A boat with 3000 cars takes a while to unload maybe 10 working days. It just depends where you car is.
