Is Your Leather Thirsty Too?
So I've been using the Lexol line of leather care, and I don't have any complaints about Lexol at all. The cleaner works very well and the conditioner seems to be doing its job.
I have noticed though that my leather sucks the conditioner stuff right up. The directions on the Lexol bottle state that I should be wiping off any extra left behind, but there's nothing to wipe up! I can actually watch the leather change from slightly shiny when I first apply to normal looking within 30-45 seconds. Is this normal? I do have grey leather, so it requires a bit more care since dirt shows up much quicker. Could the color be making a difference?

Same here - with the same color combo. I compliment your taste.
I still wipe it down though because I think the light color makes it difficult to see the excess. I did notice the last time I did it, number 3 if my memory holds, there was more excess, so I think I'm catching up. My last car had a different leather type and our 3 series is also a different color and type so it is really hard to directly compare. I suspect that it is harder to see the excess with the grey leather. In addition, I also believe that newer leather is thirstier and so might just soak it up a lot more. I'm content to wait and see because I've always had wonderful results with Lexol.

I've also got the Gray Boston leather and have not cleaned it yet... so it's time. Does anyone know if our leather is coated or not?
I ask because I've got some 303 that I've used for years on my vinyl and it says it is safe for coated leather as well. If it's safe, I'd probably just use that. If not then I'll get some cleaner & conditioner which would bring up another question... can you use leather products on vinyl or do I need to feel around and see what's leather and what's not? Sorry for the noob questions... I've done quite a bit of detailing... but never had a car with leather seats. |

In with Terra, I use Zymöl cleaner & conditioner.
Works perfect for me, doing it every month, no grease at all and the most important NO SMELL from the product... But it sucks that the leather on my drivers seat (ass area) became smooth... it used to be more rough, now its all gone

LeatherZ.com has a good write up on how to treat leather. Twice a year for conditioning and a monthly wipe. If conditioned too frequently it will shorten the life.
