Bought 30 feet of vinyl to start on the new color. Very excited to see the red. While I love the green, it's just not my favorite in direct light.

Very happy with these wheels and excited to see them against the red with the center caps

At 195,800 miles, having owned the car since the latter half of 159k miles, I've gotten my first SES light for something I didn't do! First one was when I forgot to reconnect the throttle body after replacing my starter. It's the ambient temp sensor that's failed (-40 degrees indicated when I'm absolutely melting outside). I don't know why it's throwing an SES for that, though...

Also, my M3 cluster doesn't just do the typical triangle inside a circular arrow for DTC mode, it lights up with MDM, which is fairly accurate for how my DSC is coded right now.

I spent this morning sanding it down so that it fits (mostly) properly. Only issue, it seems, is that the screw holes don't line up with the E82's, and the "hood" of the instrument cluster is much larger, so it doesn't sit quite flush as I have it. Also, the curvature of the 1-series cluster along the bottom is quite apparent compared to the flat bottom of the 3-series clusters; I can see bare metal through the gap.

It needs some refining, but I absolutely love the look and functionality it offers!

EDIT: It looks sooo good at night!

Seems like a pretty simple job. Is it?

Thanks,

Was a busy day today.
Disc my own version of the PE exhaust mod and also cut out the rear diffuser and put plastic mesh.

Replaced the battery today. With all of the coding I've been doing, and intend to do in the near future, I was getting concerned with the voltage sitting at 11.9 just after turning the engine off. Also, the original (yes, original!) was really hurting with the heat here, and I don't want to be stranded.

Duralast Platinum H7-AGM, if anyone's curious. The larger 900CCA H8 will also fit, but it weighs more. Registered using Carly, and everything's working nicely!

EDIT: This fixed my Xtrons head unit clock because, apparently, they ARE smart enough to have an LVC built-in! Now I shouldn't get a start time plausibility error anymore. Woo-hoo!

I don't know why the hell I thought it would be a good idea to replace my brake hoses and flush my system when it was 93° outside. I don't think I've ever sweat so much. I took my time so it ended up taking most of the afternoon, but at least it's finally done. I replaced my hoses with the ECS stainless kit. Fitment was just about perfect with no installation issues. I bought a Schwaben pressure bleeder, but I never got it to work to my satisfaction. I wasn't getting any flow at 15psi and I was nervous about going higher. In the end, I just had my wife push the pedal while the bleeder fed the reservoir. I wish there were an easy way to import ATE Super Blue into the country. Who the hell decided that brake fluid must be amber?

More pressure just creates more problem with flushing brakes.
10psi is enough.

Just about everything works. Variable red-line moves up the tach as oil temp rises, oil temp and fuel read correctly (it's nice to have a more usable range of oil temps; M3 cluster starts at 120*F vs 160 on the 135i cluster). Biggest win is that I fixed my cruise control! For some reason it stopped working because of the old cluster (a communication breakdown was happening, but I have no idea what caused it). I'm very happy about that
I have an M3 cluster too! Isn't it pretty?

Does your cruise control dot work? Mine doesn't and I'm not sure why or how to do it. I know the motor for it works.

It looks soo nice.

It didn't initially, but I got it working today. I had to go through NCS Expert to change an option called "SZ_ANSTEUERUNG" from "nicht_aktiv" to "aktiv." After doing that, it works. Typical coding process of read module with NCS Expert, then modify the read-out with NCS Dummy and export it to the .MAN file, then code the module with Expert.

My father found a brake fluid dye (I think) that let him have blue brake fluid. He's happy as a clam now I'll try to get a link/name for it...

EDIT: It's called Rekhaoil Blue Concentrate

Original battery gang. I replaced my original one in 2017, but I was still impressed. I used the same battery too! The larger capacity one was literally $5 more the day I bought it so that was a no brainer. I don't mind the weight, any savings would be offset by me leaving my longboard in the trunk.

Also I believe the DME takes the ambeint air temp sensor reading into account for calculating AFR/timing

Chris told you where to actaully to use it in Tool32/NCSExpert/etc., but it's worth a shot using PerfektToolbox (Google it), it has all the cluster coding options in one nice UI

Replaced my friend's entire power steering system. All brand new, not a single piece left.

Straight forward job. Huge pain in the ass just because you need to remove the radiator to replace the power steering cooler. Ended up breaking the upper rad hose WHILE REMOVING the expansion tank overflow hose, SPECIFICALLY so it wouldn't break. But good thing the hub Autozone had the Rein part in stock at midnight!

Also gave myself a heart attack, I ordered 2 of the wrong crush washer and didn't have the right ones, but the new Rein hose came with them!

Car is dumb nice though.

This is just part 1 of the "build". He's got headers, wheels and a few other goodies on the way, along with fixing pending issues (like metal flakes flowing through his old PS system)

Looks like I've fallen victim to the dreaded windshield washer slime problems- no mo washer function, and no pump sound. Fuse is good.

Ordered a new pump and gasket/filter along with some of those push pin clips for the wheel liner, and next weekend I'll be pulling & cleaning the tank...

My dad was convincing me to just spend the money on a new one. 10 years out of a battery is damned good. Computers aren’t a bad thing, after all. The larger one was the same price, but I wasn’t completely sure it would fit. Now I know it would have...

I think the SES light was actually a result of the clock dying on the Xtrons head unit because of the built-in LVC. It kept time last night, so I’m going to clear codes and see if the light stays off. If not, then I guess I’m getting an ambient temp sensor.

PerfektToolbox is cool, but I’m staying away from it since my cruise control stopped working after I tried using it to calibrate my gauges. I bet it did that because of my shortcut retrofit with the 135i cluster (swapped EEPROM over).

Mine has shiny bits in it even after flushing it completely. I’m guessing it’s the pump because it whines like a mofo. Maybe time for an M3 rack as well?

Although it was yesterday, I finally gave my n55 a good wash, clay and wax since buying it around a month ago. Wanted this beauty since high school and feels great to finally own one.

Yep, that's my buddies similar n55 but his is tuned with some other cosmetic mods. We decided to make a day out of cleaning our cars since the weather was pretty good for late-Sept in Toronto.

A fellow black LCI M Sport 1 from Ontario?! Sup dude.

I just bought mine two weeks ago as well and gave it a wash and sealant today. Absolutely love it. Yours looks great with the 269 wheels - are those 19s?

Edit: NVM, I recognize the car from an old for sale thread :P

Discovered a little thing called xHP late last night and then discovered the Alpina b3 TCU flash.

So just before bedtime I went out, setup WinKFP for the first time and flashed the Alpina b3 TCU flash to my E88 135i steptronic transmission.
Was too late to go out for a test drive so going to do that today.

Very excited given I had no idea before last night the auto transmit could be improved by software alone!

Loving the MHD stage 1 tune already so glad to have invested in the dcan cable.
