My name is Saurabh and I recently parted with my baby M. He's gone to a seemingly good home...but life just isn't the same!
After waiting 7mths for delivery, and owning for 21mths, it's been the best and most fun car I've ever owned. |

I curiously can't help but ask... then WHY part with it?

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to actually go ahead and sell the car, but I figured it was time to move on. If I didn't find someone who'd look after it, or if I didn't get decent money I would not have sold. |

Yes, very true. Driving other cars really made me realise that. The drop top F-Type was probably the most beautiful looking, and best sounding car...but steering was a let down. I just didn't feel connected to it.
I also have an M4 on order built in May but pricing not yet confirmed and I think likely to be $180K with a few options (no CCB) on road...which is too much. |

Bummer dude, but no pity here, as you made the decision against driving one of the most awesome cars in one of the most awesome cities in the world in good health (I assume).
Perhaps some consolation in the 1M addict thread? Interesting that you did not think the F-type was a worthy successor; makes me wonder about the raving reviews of F-type R as well ... |

Lol, not seeking pity. I drove the Type S convert and all reviews say the Type R coupe is much better...but it not released yet. In Aus it'll be ~$220K, which is twice what the 1M cost.

You will never have the experience of being 1of 740 here in the US plus going to pick it up in Europe. Its the difference of being told about a strip club and owning the strip club....

to be honest, i think the cayman gts gets a close to the 1M as any car (fun-factor-wise). what the cayman gts lacks in brute force, it makes up in balance. both look amazing and both go like hell.... if id have to give up the baby M, then the cayman would replace it (im secretly even considering getting the cayman even if i keep the M)

Cayman has a completely different approach and personality, much more precise & you can just drive it instinctively. The 1M much more a raw animal thanks to huge torque on instant tap. Ideal garage would be 981 GTS & a 1M
The new 981 to me feels better put together than previous 986, and more practical. I was looking at CaymanS but bought the 2.7PDK and saved about $40K...just couldn't justify that much money for a small increase in power. Maybe I should supercharge it |

i am regretfully going to list my 1M for sale soon... fully loaded under 12k miles...
Reasoning: I LOVE THIS CAR. loll But i drive 20-30k/year. My honda pilot (work car) has 40k in less than a year (not all of the miles were me). My main car usually gets 15-20k. I only put 6k/year on the 1M, 500 Miles/year on the Exige, 100 miles total on the s2k.... I can't justify so much cash sitting around. So I'm selling my s2k & 1M. Bought a 2015 WRX for a DD. Going to throw the money into some investments i have in mind. But within another 2 years i hope to either get in the M2 or maybe a boxster gts, or maybe a GT3 depending on prices. & i also want to buy a dedicated track car. |
