Thanks for all the input guys and gals
I showed all these post replies to my wife and it helped comfoirt her very much. No sense in carrying all spare parts. And yes, I haven't had a flat in many years. I'll trust the run-flat tires and always have our cell phone with us. Hey KFROGMAN, yes, that was hysterical. Love those boobs, however. BAZ

i just drove like 80 miles on my completly deflated runflat, and to be honest i never really noticed a difference in the car after the tire was flat... you can go much further on the tires than the 50 mile max after its flat...

Hey Arby....what did you do about your flat tire?
Did you buy a new tire or have the bad one fixed? There seems to be controversy concerning punctured run-flat tires, that BMW recommends to not fix a tire, to replace it. !!

had it replaced.... i got the insureance on the runflats... technically ur not sapposed to patch them, but as long as its not on the sidewall there really isnt a reason that it would create a problem...

That was great!!!! Holy Crap !!!!!!!!!!!!!
That total kit from leatherz is $360+ Shipping for the spare-saver and jack kit. Screw that. I replaced my runflats yesterday after recently having the shit scared out of me driving in the icy rain. Those tires are a death sentence for sure. Happy with my "REAL TIRES"=Reduced road noise/More comfortable ride and great handling. Definitely provides more traction and thus confidence in not being a "statistic"!!!!! As far as a spare. Flats are unlikely. In my 25 years of driving 2-3 of them.....Will use my "Slime Smart-Kit" to repair anything that may occur until i can find a reasonably priced sparesaver/donut which seems to be very difficult to locate. SELLING A FULL SET OF RUNFLATS IF ANYONE IS BRAVE ENOUGH KEEP THE HOT BIG-BOOBED DANCING GIRLS COMMING YOU GUYS...

Runflats aren't the cause of your near death experience. It's summer tires. Your new regular tires will have the same problems unless they're allseason or snow.
The two have nothing to do with each other, you're just spreading misinformation -Mike |

To clarify i meant to say The Potenza High Performance Summer RF Tires. I dont spread "misinformation" I express my "humble opinion"....
The thread on this issue has history. If you read previous threads you would see i was speaking of the Summer Runflats VS All Season and Dedicated Snows.Again for the sake of clarification.

FYI, I bought an E46 compact spare on ebay for cheap and it does NOT clear the front brakes on an E90 325i. It barely rubs against the brakes and I wouldn't use it on the fronts. It does clear the rears though, so if you wanted to use it as a failsafe backup you'd have to put it on the rear and then move the good rear tire to the front if your front had a flat with non-runflats.
The biggest problem with runflats isn't getting stranded, though it's possible. It's the extremely high cost and the performance for that high cost. Putting 20K on a year it adds up over the life of the car. The compact spare is less than half the width of the tires I have on the car and the trunk space is adequate now with it there instead of a real wheel. It's also very light in comparison. |
