fault code reader

Hi

Wife's car keeps throwing error codes because of the non standard cat that i had installed. Thought about buying a fault code reader just to be sure when i ignore them, any risks with these? I was thinking of buying a cheapie off ebay?

I think the best one by consensus is the BT cable. Unfortunately I can't tell you more about it because I had it for 6 months and still sitting in its packet. I haven't downloaded the software either. .

The cheapies off ebay are perfect for what you need. THe BT cable is more user friendly but that doesnt come cheap.
