This is true but I regularly hit 170 and 140 daily so for most of us they are necessiary. My 60-130 is almost no time and its easy to go fast.

+101

Yeah, what I said back in post 738. At least make it an option for the buyer.

It would be nice to only have to install the pins, the roundel and washer nozzles and of course the hood and to be good to go up to any speed you are willing to risk getting your license cut in two on the spot and getting chauffeured away. But, it is what it is...

Hopefully it doesn't hurt to ask...

That's the thing. It's not a problem until that one millisecond when it happens.

Anyway, sorry to beat this into the ground. Probably should have been in its own thread.

that is very unlikely. Lets look at ALL the other CF hoods on the market, E8@ or E9@...none of them pre-intall hood pins. All this would do is raise the cost of the hoods etc. What I suggest is ordering your stuff from a dealer/vendor (DTMrack, HPF, HPautowerks) then requesting hood pin install and select the pins you want. Thats how things usually work round these parts.

just my two cents. I know if you call up DTMrack or HPF they will be more than happy to get you all set up on what you need with your iCarbon parts.

That's all good n wonderful, but thats not the point. Point is it makes it easier on the customer, specially if its something thats recommended. Sure it would raise the cost of the hood, but I sure as hell would rather pay a little more to have the pins already cut into and installed on the hood so all Id hafta do is install the hood. Not every lives wicked closed to sponsors from here.

I have been involved in modifying cars for almost 12 years now. I have had many CF hood and I have even had one pop up on me but it was due to me being dumb and not latching it all the way. Anyway, I have never seen one that was predrilled. The reason for this is because some people do not want the ugly clips or whatever type of pins you purchase screwing up the look of the hood. They are recommended but not mandatory! Therefore there would be no reason for a company manufacturing the hoods to do so. If anything they should make it an option that you can have done before the product is shipped to you but that would be the very most. Also, do not try and do it yourself, you will only crack the clear coat!

If this was an option which is it should be, it would be an OPTION, not something that is installed on every order. And it would be up to ICarbon to find a pin set of good quality as well as a shop to install then, much like how they have a paint shop that they have paint some of their CF pieces for customers.

This should not be this difficult, I dont care if no other CF hoods have ever been offered with installed pins, this makes it a great oppurtunity for CF then. And I guarantee you, if it was a good quality pin and the install done consistently well, this option would be utilized by more than 50% of their customers which would obviously net them a profit with the whole thing and their shop as well.

Pretty much the point is, I wont even be thinking bout this as a mod till something like this happens, I do not feel like messing with a more fragile hood that ive already spent loads of money on, id rather the work be done by or thru the manufacturer under their own warranty. Period

^ Makes an excellent point. iCarbon should offer this as an option and charge like $400 for parts and labor. Why not? Sure it would cost no more than $200 at a local shop, and just $80 if you know what you are doing, but if people what an additional service and would be willing to pay good $$ I think it be ignorant not to profit off of your consumers...

I'm sure there will be those who would complain about the cost but it is what it is.

Well I dont think it would have to be that much, specially if its a shop close by to them, but who knows

You are right, who knows it could be less or it could be more. Plus since its an option, one would expect it to be more (it is a business afterall) since you are paying for the convienence. At least now, people can choose to pay $400or choose to take it to a local shop to do it. Again, yYou have that option, no one said the first option would be cheap though lol....

Why dont you order your hood via HPF, DTMrack, HPautowerks? they will pre-drill and place pins for you. iCarbon will likely not offer this, and I get the impression from the increasing iCarbon vendors that iCarbon is getting out of the vendor aspect and focusing on manufacturing and distributing to vendors alone.

Really now? Why wasnt this mentioned before?

How much do these vendors charge for such an option?

I spoke with someone from Icarbon as well. They mentioned that they soon will be moving to selling to distributors only. Most likely because its so much easier to deal with 5 or 10 people then 100s complaining. Plus dealers and distributors understand its business, if its broke you fix it. There is no complaining or wining (my words not theirs)...

Anyone heard from icarbon lately? I was supposed to finally get a tracking number for my double sided trunk (which I ordered and paid for 233 days ago) on 2/28. I emailed them twice since 2/25 and have not heard a peep. This is seriously getting old.

After waiting this long it would feel like I wasted 8 months. Last I spoke to them, they were positive this would be the last slip up. I guess they were wrong.

I've been waiting on a vacc hood, according to Andy about 2 weeks ago, he said it will for sure ship on 3/12. I'm REALLY hoping that holds true! So tired of waiting.... Only reason I haven't been going crazy is that the car is still garaged until the weather warms up a bit & the road salt is washed away.
