A couple points I didn't see listed.
If you get Cold Weather Package - Regular sport comes with a heated steering wheel / M-Sport you lose the heated steering wheel.

Also if you get PDC, the M-Sport bumper loses the front sensors. (I'm not sure if regular 1 series have front sensors, I know this was the case on other models).

Oh, duh. Sorry, reading comprehension sucks sometimes.

The 256 was the standard wheel on the 128i Coupe (non-Sport/non-M-Sport). I couldn't find a 2008 brochure, but in 2009 the standard (non-Sport/non-M-Sport) 135i Convertible wheel was a 17", non-staggered set called Style 142 (the same as the no-cost option on the 135i Coupe I was talking about above).

I can never find a 2009 Convertible brochure, so maybe things were different in the first year of production. Or maybe it's a case of mistaken identity - the wheels are pretty similarly designed 5-spokes (sternspeiche or "star spokes," in BMW-speak).

Here's Style 142:

The VIN list clearly shows 17" Wheels and M-Sport suspension.

It is entirely possible that the dealer in Des Moines ordered 17" wheels when it was delivered mid 2008, but i am not sure. As interesting as that might be, it is even curiouser that the entire Stage 3 Dinan package and exhasut and CF intake were installed (by Eberhard BMW in Michigan, I think), but they left the 17" wheels on it.

The only think I can think of is that the owner who had that done intended to track it. There are holes in the ownership history of the car that i cannot fill.

I just know the car is great fun and I loved it with the 17" wheels, but it is better with non RFTs and the 313s.

Edit: 17" wheels are not staggered. They are all 4 17 x 7.5, I think (I am scheduled for knee replacement Wednesday and it is too painful to the wheels down to check.)

Good luck with the knee surgery. I'm having some knee pain myself and had both knees x-rayed today. I'm hoping for just a little arthritis.

A few of the 17" wheels that were available on the 128i were staggered (for Sport & M-Sport models).

The suspension that comes on the sport package is the M Sport suspension. I own one and I changed the stuts recently when I decoded my vin to see which I have the aport package has the M Sport Suspension.

The difference?

Well the M-Sport Pkg is more wonderful than the Sport Pkg simply because I have one!

Yes, on the 128i they have two suspensions. But ALL 135i's have the same suspension - regardless of M Sport or just Sport options.
