Lol, ask them if they know anything about the 128i. Why can't the American tuners do anything with it?

Actually to answer your questions it is because germans use higher octane gasoline. Generally you will find that they will use 98-100 RON octane gas which is equivalent to 95 octane in the US.
Most tuners will make their tunes around 91 octane unless they ask you which octane you are using and customize the tune accordingly. Even still their tunes still only go to 93 octane usually.

I have only seen TWO 135i's driven by Germans on the streets around here( or when I travel). By far all of the 135i's I see are fellow Americans who bought thru MCS. Gas cost near $9 per gallon right now - plus all the other "taxes" the Germans have to pay. a 120i or 120d just makes more sense. Dackel |

My 128i is on the way to being a track toy very soon to replace my 98 M3. I'm putting 130 miles a day on it, so when I hit 100k miles, it will retire for track usage. So I'd love to get 280 HP outta this baby which is approximately what I am getting outta my m3. But I still like the balance and steering of my 1er.
Someone GET ME TO 280 HP !!!!!!!

Hello guys.
This is it. Just drove back from Munich. I've got the 130i power + a bonus under my hood. The engine is transformed. Feels like it's meant to have 274hp. It revs smoooooothly up to 7k, you don't feel anymore that reving above 5k is useless. After what I saw, there's no almost chance that US guys will be able to do the same stuff.

Also, the 128 there has a better fuel system than the US model.

What I mean is that you need not only to be an electronic master...
You'd need to live in Germany in order to have the right connections to be able to crack the software of any engine. Believe me, this is far not a piece of cake from what I saw. This would also explain why only a few guys are able to do it.

I believe 265 - 280 PS and 310 - 325 Nm is possible for the 125/128/130i motors. At least that is what my German tuner told me.
