My tint is pretty dark and I have yet to get stopped, but yes they are dicks!
Sorry man. Fight the ticket. Boston and Metro Boston are a giant police state.
You have to be careful, I pick and choose my moments and places to speed.

I got stopped when I had 20%'s and the meter read it at 13%...

I put on 30%'s and fought the ticket...unfortunately I didn't put the new tints on until after my court hearing, but I still had it reduced in half. It can be a fix-it-ticket. Take your tints off, or put on light % tints and fight it. I bet you will get it waived, if not at least reduced...good luck

Another reason not to tint: You're at the mercy of any law enforcement officer looking to meet their quota or just to be a dick.

And, of course, there's absolutely no reason to think that tinting that dark creates a hazard, or that it jeopardizes the safety of police officers who stop cars. And certainly no one should have to obey laws they disagree with.

blah blah blah...

WE THE PEOPLE make up the laws. The "police" like to make up their own laws to what they see fit. An officers safety does not trump my constitutional rights to be secure in my property. I will gladly roll my windows down if pulled over and there is no safety issue. The officer can see me just fine. If it was a hazard for dark tint, then why are all the under covers using 5% tint on the front windows in Florida where I live?... hypocrite comes to mind. My car is at 5% all the way around, except the windshield. I will NEVER tint them less.

thats because florida has no tint laws...I 100% understand why police would pull you over for tints, but just to prove a point is stupid. Write a warning, the ticket is harsh if they give you the full amount. They can ticket you for $200 per window for illegal tints. So if you're ticket was just for $200...consider yourself lucky. It could have been $1000 if you have all 5 windows tinted

Oh, I love this righteous indignation! (Look it up.) We the people DID make up a law. Your ELECTED representative passed a law limiting the amount of tint. Don't weasel out of by saying the cops made up the law. Take responsibility for your actions. It's a sign of maturity.

But in the end, it doesn't matter to me. I'm not the one with the ticket.

You mean the special intrest groups paid by the police funds, paid to law makers in order to pass laws in their interest? Yea, "we" sure did! But I am sure you agree with every single law on the books ever created and have never broken a law you didnt agree with. riiiight... but in the end I know how corrupt govt.

That's not true. In Florida, the tint cannot be darker than 28% for the front windows. The back windows, however, can be as dark as you want. frotn windshield is a no go unless clear filmed for UV protection or for just the front strip. It use to be a "fix it ticket" and they would drop the fee from 98 dollars to 7 dollars if you removed the tints. NOW the ticket is 120 and if you take the tints off or re-do it with lighter film they lower the cost of the ticker to 98 dollars. all they want is money and anyway they can get it. has nothing to do with a safety issue ( unless you are blind and cant see...)

They dont want to give warnings out, either. the whole tint ticket is just an excuse so they can make arrest and find things on you or your car. pirates...

My goodness, paranoia runs deep here! Tinted window laws are a government conspiracy to round up innocent citizens, perpetrated by.....ummmm....clear windshield manufacturers? Hmmm.....

Well, as Barney Frank famously said, "trying to have a conversation with you would be like arguing with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it." With that, I take my leave of this thread, so you can go on finding reasons why you're not accountable for your own actions. Have fun!

Assuming you think I am a conservative, or have anything to do with barney frank's views...

Oh, I'm sorry, I have a real problem with govt minding their owning god damned business. so you must either be a bleeding heart liberal who thinks all laws made are for the "good of the people", or you are a LEO. Either way, please dont quote someone who has zero credibility whatsoever.

PinMagic, you sound like a cop.
Just because something gets written into law doesn't mean that everyone agrees with it. Most laws are bullshit, especially if you enjoy driving a fast car on the street, or god forbid like to go party and use drugs recreationally. Politicians and lawmakers are the most full-of-shit too. Have you seen the state of law and politics in this country. It's a joke.
Get off your soapbox and enjoy your german car like the rest of us.
