Oh, I just sold some old parts so I ordered a new steering wheel as well. It'll be similar to this with some changes. The airbag will also be done in Alcantara with red stitching and the trim around the buttons in leather. I'm gonna need to hit up NRW for some of his new paddles with tritium + & - |

Nice! I need to do this. Want something plain with 200mph and an 8k redline.

Got the bumper back on and was able to take her out for the first real pulls since the PS2 swap. Running an OTS tune right now and still driving with pump gas (Wedge tune coming) but all I can say is WOW! This is how BMW should have sold this baby from the start.

Got a quote today for full alcantara or leather wrapped dash. Just waiting on a quote from NRW for a full carbon dash before deciding. Leather is winning for sheer convenience of cleaning right now, we'll see what the cost of the carbon would be

Maybe E9xM3 faces, but dont know if tach could be reprogrammed.

Been a while since I've done anything besides wash the car...
Did my valve cover this weekend. The Valvetronic motor gasket was leaking and I had ordered MILVS a while back, so I took the opportunity to install them. Boy, people aren't joking when they say the valve cover is a PITA - I had a pretty experienced mechanic buddy helping me out and the job still took probably 6-7hr, definitely was thankful to have a helping hand. MILV installation was reasonably straightforward. I would definitely suggest getting the tool, but even with the tool, it's a bit tricky. The Valvetronic spring needs to be perfectly flush inside the tool or it will go back on wonky and screw up the linkage to the valve springs (ask me how I know). On the upside, fighting with this stuff gives one a much better idea how the Valvetronic system actually works. Nic @ AA was helpful in revising my tune for the MILVS, so got that flashed and took the car out. The difference is certainly noticeable, butt dyno says similar to getting headers again (but without adding a ton of noise, haha). Will hopefully schedule some actual dyno time soon to see exactly what it did. Main troubles I ran into over the course of the install:
Also found that one of my 1M strut tower braces sheared off. I have no idea when or how this happened, as the stud was still attached to the bar, but this does not appear to be high quality metal used for these things: |

What's really weird is that the strut bar itself was fine, it was the mount that sheared off underneath. Maybe heat cycling with the different materials between the stud and the mount? I dunno, but I'm out $80 to replace it :\

Any idea what these are made of? I'm guessing aluminum alloy pot metal.

Yeah you can edit the scaling with Perfekt Toolbox + BMW standard tools

My guess is regular old cast aluminum. The material type should be identified on the part like on most BMW parts.

Yep, all the gauges. It's a pretty powerful tool. I used it to make my needles rest almost perfectly on the lines after my 135i cluster swap lol.

Appreciate the help. Do I need a guide for this or is the tool user friendly.
