2009 135i cab Rear defroster no working

I found my defroster has stopped working on the rear window. Before digging in to it I thought I would ask if there are any common failure points on this car. I think I hear a faint relay click happening up in the dash when I push the button. My guess is the folding roof has damaged the wiring somewhere. I want to flip the rear window up but was wondering if anyone knows if there is an interlock that cuts power to the defroster unless the roof is fully up.

It was somewhat common, as I recall. My 135i only had a few lines working from new, and the top was replaced under warranty because of it.
