Ultimate Driving Machine!!!
BMW may be the Ultimate Driving machine but according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, five out of 10 "Top Safety Pick" award winners came from the Wolfsburg, Germany.
Yes you guessed it... VOLKSWAGEN and AUDI!!!! They tested 50 cars and their findings state: “The fact that Audi and Volkswagen were so responsive to the requirements of the test is one of the primary reasons they fared so well, according to the Institute's President Brian O'Neill.” I couldn’t find BMW mentioned anywhere in test results so I guess you also better be the Ultimate Safe DRIVER !!!!! |

Brian O'Neill (IIHS president) wouldn't recognize an ultimate driving machine if it ran over him!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the IIHS has not yet crashed the e90. I thought that they had only crashed it in Germany.
As for Audi's good raitings, I think it's in part to the A6, A4, and the A3 recieving "Doubble Best Pick" awards for their front and side crash test ratings. Nevertheless the E90 is a safe car, i'm not all that that worried about what the IIHS has to say about it.

We have to read the details behind the list carefully. You see... only cars that are tested by IIHS in 3 areas (Frontal, Side, Rear) are eligible for that list. And as nyyankee pointed out, the E90 has not been tested yet, so no matter how safe it actually is, it will not get listed at the moment. You might wonder why the BMW E60 isn't on the list. It's because it never got tested on side impacts by IIHS. If it did, it will end up getting the "Silver" because of the "Average" results from rear collision testing.

unfortunately there have been a few members who were involved in recent accidents in their e90s.
we have heard from them as to how bmws safety features activated to assist in saving them from harm. i hope that those people are all ok.

you can't really determine every aspect of a car form those reports
they are for very specific speed and condition, i always see them as excuse for insurance company to earn profit...
