Is SIB 12 15 14 going to do that though? I'm assuming that is a date for the flash. Is there any updates to make things better since then?
The SIB won't give you the exhaust sound you're looking for. For that, you'll need the PPK. Let me know if you're interested...

JB4 info?

Does anyone here have a JB4 on either a 335i or 135i? I really want to get one but i am worried it is too good to be true. if you do have one could you tell me how good it really is? have you ever had any problems with it?

That appears to be a flash tune, so yes I believe the PPK would overwrite that tune.

Want to give a shout out to joe@topgearsolutions

This man knows coding and helped me install the latest DME on my 12' E88 (post locked). While I couldn't get the PPK the DME fixed my hesitation and surging issues. I swear the car now feels like it's on sports mode during normal driving and with the button pressed even angrier! From the date it looked like it was the DME from the factory!

Very professional and communicative throughout the process. Good stuff!

I just purchased a 2013 135i and I think it might have this issue. Is there any way for me to tell what version it’s currently on? Also what is the PPK everyone is referring to?

Thanks for the help

I've been dreading complaining about the DCT lag because I was scared to get the software update that neuters performance as other have noticed. I think the paperwork they give you after the service may have some info

I'd like in on the PPK as well... I have a locked '13 135i and I've been super sad about not being able to just transfer over MHD and all the stuff I had for my 08 335i.

Looking forward to working with Joe... If it doesn't produce enough power, I may just nut up and pay for a bench unlock Wasn't there supposed to be some big news about N55s finally being cracked open without a bench unlock?

Got the update, lost burbles and pops from ppk.

I went to the dealer and got SIB 12 15 14 to address my idle surge (with ac on) and throttle issues on my 13' 135is. 2 hours of labor; they kept my car for 3 days and gave me a loaner.

The throttle response is MUCH better BUT as some others have experienced in here the exhaust note is much quieter with minimal burbles and pops that i was accustomed to.

I asked the dealer if the DME update would erase the PPK that came standard on my 135is before i got the update out of concern; and the SA said the update wouldnt affect the PPK.

Im missing my burbles and pops; i'd keep my windows down in the florida heat just to hear them.

Is the any way to determine if the PPK flash is still present? If they did erase it, would they be obligated to put it back on?

As you said, we've heard this before about getting a software update and losing some exhaust sounds, plus other things that we don't want to happen, as a result of a software update.

It's definitely a bummer, and one of the reasons I haven't had a software update since 2011. But I haven't had the need to, because I don't have the DCT issues that some people have had, or still have.

I think when you have PPK, especially on a 135is, it is married to your VIN and they should be able to check and verify that you still have it installed on your car. It couldn't hurt to bring it up with the service manager and see if he'll have it checked for you, or possibly even reflash PPK for you and see if that helps.

PS - you might have to pay labor or something for the reflash, although I don't think you should have to. It should be free imo.

I was having these issues and thought it was the spark plugs! I'm so glad I found this thread.
Mine is a new-to-me 2013 135i with DCT and ~64,800k miles. Do you know if there's a way I can check if the SIB 12-15-14 was installed by a previous owner?

Using INPA, or another similar program, read the software number. It should start with 868****. Anything less, the DME needs to be updated.
