"non-detectable" jb3, sstt, etc.

I keep reading on here how SSTT or JB3 are non-detectable upgrades... which I honestly believe is load of bull.

Which of the two would be more difficult to detect.. and if removed would be impossible to know it was there.

No matter what tune you're using, you have some risk of being detected if they're looking for it.

SSTT is most certainly detectable, and anyone who says otherwise is lying to you.

I've have tried more than one, and without knowing the mileage when the code was thrown, I can not be sure which threw the code. That being said, I do acknowledge the
coincidence.

I've been running a JB+ and DCI for over a week on the default setting, I scanned it with a BT scanner and I have not thrown any codes related to the tune.

I just beat the crap out of my car at 10 psi with the cp-e standback and there were no codes with the Bavarian Technic tool. Next time I'm on a dyno, I'll turn up the boost (12 or 13 psi), add fuel, and pull a degree or two of timing and see if I get a code.

This topic has been BEAT to DEATH. There ARE risks associated with ANY type of upgrade/mod. My advice f#$k it and get mods. Get a JB3 and the code deleter if you so choose. For a person like yourself get the plug n play. Have a good day

I've been running 14psi daily with the JB3 and have had no detection codes thrown...be smart about it and buy a BT scan tool and you're set.

If ur gona mod, u need to be smart and not do it blindly. Do your research...and there is PLENTY to read up on here, the N54 forum, and the e90 forum. Also be sure you have access to a gt1 or get the Bavarian tool. I just got my JB+ today and before ordering it I made sure I found a local car shop willing to hook me up with gt1 scans before going in to my dealer. BE SMART and hopefully you will be just fine.

I have a JB3 and took it out before going to the dealer and they were looking for it because I didn't take my CAI out and it didn't throw any codes other than the ones that were there. Just FYI.

this may be a dumb question but is it logical to think that the more people try to cover up tunes or manipulate codes etc. that the car manufacturers are doing the same. For example BMW developing technology that will be able to tell that codes have been manipulated? So 6 months from now theyll be able to tell if the Bavarian tool or others like have been used on your car?

Not a dumb question. Simple answer, the CAR KNOWS EVERYTHING (bmw may not) The car keeps track of how many times you disconnect the battery, how times traction control came on (even for what reason too).
HOWEVER, on the flip side, any codes that are thrown, can clear themselves out over time. So if you scan something with the BT and don't delete it, you may not see it there several weeks/months from now if you did another scan. BMW would have a very hard time proving how that code went away (thats IF they could tell it was thrown in the first place)
Hope this helps
