the dealer doesn't give a shit unless it's keeping the car from starting.

No issues with istalling it, deploying it, or going to dealer. Not sure why 1 or 2 guys seem to have an issue with starting the car, it seems the overwhelming response (as in my case) is that the clutch stop is trouble-free.

Works fine for me, no issues. My dealer didn't mention it on my last visit.

no joy with clutch stop

put me in the small category of people having problems starting the car with the clutch stop. about 15% of the time car would require extra firm press to start. wife freaked so had to remove. found out removal destroys plastic fishbone keeping it in hole. probably about qurter inch too long.

so it appears that this mod is not reversible... and that freaks me out. If I do happen to run into this problem or happen to not like the new feel, I'm screwed... seems like it's not worth it IMO... my previous car was a chevrolet astra and it had a really long clutch just like the bimmer, I think I might be just fine..

My concern was (1) I didn't want the dealer to try to diagnose a starter problem when it was just the clutchstop and (2) didn't want a "modified drivetrain" sticky in my paperwork which might cause problems for future warranty work.

Yes, normally the clutchstop will not be noticed by a mechanic unless it is causing a starting problem. The fact that it's not reversible kind of sucks. I have shortened it by 1/8" at the rubber base and it seems fine now.

to be clear, it was the plastic clutch stop that was damaged upon removal, not the hole. ($14 loss, no biggie)

oh ok wait... so if you were to put the original clutch stop back in before maintenance it would fit in perfectly?

wo we're saying that it IS 100% reversible?

You can leave the OEM stopper off really. That thing is so small that it looks like it makes no difference.

But, if you want to put the stock on back on, try wrapping paper around the stud portion, to build up the circumference and push it back in. Give it a try.

I had a stopper of my own design that reamed out the hole a bit larger.
When I installed the new stopper I wrapped some plastic around the stud and it fit just fine, nice and snug.

Shave the stopper a bit and try again, like ulrichd did. You'll get it.
The better feel is really worth it. It's so easy to install and remove, a little extra time to shave it a bit isn't such a big deal.
But, to each his own.
As for service I intend on keeping the new stopper in.

It's probably just some variance in the location of the kill switch.
On the cars having a start problem the switch seems to be located a bit oddly.
You could look around down there and see if there is an adjustment for it.
Maybe someone on these forums has a spec sheet showing how to adjust the switch. Post a new thread question, maybe someone can give it to you.

I was having some starting problems when I first installed it but I gave it a couple of firm presss down on the clutch. I think it seated it and compressed it and now I'm not having any issues starting..... only if I let the clutch up too fast after pressing the starting button the engine would cut but that part is normal.

Installed mine in 10 seconds. Gave the clutch a couple of firm presses to seat it. No issues starting the car.

This seller has 2 different clutch stops. Aggressive and Conservative. I think for the guys who are worried about starting problems the Conservative one would be a good choice. I ended up getting the aggressive one because I wanted little to barely any travel but still had no start issues. My cousin got the conservative one and it worked out for him. No start issues as well and a bit more travel than mine. Only paid $12 shipped, good cheap mod
anyone else buy it from this guy? how did it work out?

i'm considering the conservative clutch stop IF AND ONLY IF i get 0 problems starting my car up..

Love mine!

Only time I have to push harder to start is when the car is really cold...rubber is firmer...but I must say I won't go back to stock.

Buy it.

+1

looks like he also sells a conservative stopper but I have the original. My personal opinion is that it's "just right" any shorter and it may not be as effective.
