MHD (N55) only took 11 minutes!
Today I flashed my ECU using MHD for the first time since I owned the car. I do not know what the prior owners did/or didn't do to it.
When the installation began, it showed 0% and 11 minutes remaining. I timed the actual progress and it took just about 11 minutes total. Is this normal since I read that the initial flash usually takes 20-45 minutes? The flash completed successfully and seems to be working running Stage 1 93OCT. |

I think they've been making changes to make the coding process more efficient. The 20 minutes was when MHD first came out so I guess 11 minutes is where they are at now.
For re-flashing/changing tunes, it used to take like 2-3 minutes, now it takes 1. |

As an apartment dweller, is it still necessary to have it plugged into a trickle charger? My battery has about 1k miles on it.

I'm sure the official answer will always be yes, because of the "you never know" factor. In reality, I think you'll be ok. I did mine without a charger, lights off of course, radio off, driver's window down so I could start it from outside with the door closed and then just left the tablet on the dash as it went.
