Water leaking from center console in foot well...
A few months back I noticed that whenever I would make any right turns, water would come leaking out of the center console area onto my feet. I took it to the dealership and they attributed it to the windshield drains getting clogged up with pollen and maple seeds, etc.
I originally thought it might be the A/C compressor drain hose leaking or having come undone, but I guess not. I called it good as this made sense to me (drain line clog) based upon the fact that I keep my car outside and my backyard gets covered in maple seeds. This morning I noticed that it is still happening and it hasn't rained by me in a few days. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks! |

I had the same problem with mine. The dealer said that the sunroof drains were clogged. I rarely open the sunroof so I was not convinced that this was really the problem. They cleaned the drains and no wet carpet since.
I talked to the dealer about SIB 64 05 09 which describes "Water from the Air Conditioning System in Footwell". They were very reluctant to perform this procedure because it requires removing the transmission.

Yep it happens but only when my ac is on (which isn't often). I just assumed that the ac drain pan isn't as tall as it should be.

YEP.. see my post from last year.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=293888 I had the dealer for perform the"fix" it took a week in the shop and it did not resolve the problem. It still happened. I even took it back again to be sure everything was still attached on the fix and such..everything looked fine. I could replicate it on a certain corner exit ramp off an interstate every time.. Oh well.. not my problem anymore but good luck. And yes tranny had to be pulled to perform fix, but i figured it was a free way of getting my tranny fluid changed during the process somewhat.

Bumping this thread to ask:
Are these TSBs taken care of for free or is that only for cars under warranty? I just had this happen this morning on an exit ramp. Honestly it's not that big of a deal and I may never even have it fixed. Just curious.

I had this happen to me a few times, like others on an exit/entrance ramp, thought it was water from the engine compartment getting in somehow as it rained or I washed the car the day before. Pretty sure I had the top down once so my AC would not of been on.
BTW isnt it ridiculous how many areas in the engine compartment allow water to pool and collect.

Both of my 1-series have had this issue. Only happens every so often, but very annoying. Mine's going in tomorrow for the BMW Assist deactivation. I think I'll mention this to my SA.

Guess I must not be taking the corners fast enough because its never happened to me (that I know of). Don't really use the AC that much either.

I figure when my car goes in for airbag, I am having them look at the DCT lag idle etc issue and now this.

I took an exit ramp at about 90%. Probably pulled almost a G on my PSS. And I felt my ankle get wet. It was also a very humid morning.

If your AC is on, all this means is you took that corner just as hard as you needed to

I've never had this issue in either my 2011 128i or my current 2010 135i. Has the issue been resolved during a certain model year? I rarely use the AC, never when I'm driving hard

Got it to do it again on a different exit ramp yesterday hahaha. I honestly think some people may not have sticky enough tires to get it to happen and others simply do.

Only had the car for a few months now and already did it a couple of times, different on-ramps, both right handers... on factory RFTs.
Does anyone have mentioned SIB 64 05 09as pdf or something? Should have some time later this month, may be a DIY in my future. |

Well, this post is a start! Just happened to me a couple times with my recently purchased '12 135 on hard right hand turns. The weird thing is that the first time it was cold, but the second time, it felt like it burned the top right middle foot next to the accelerator. AC was on both times. I get why it'd be cold, but very hot enough for a slight burn? It did not smell like coolant. I need to google some more. Need Pics!

The problem is still happens to my car in aggressive turns, like cloverleaf interchanges. I could imagine it causing enough alarm to potentially lose control under the correct circumstances, but it occurs so rarely that I don't think it's worth it to have the dash messed with. |

If I experienced the burning liquid you described, I'd be in the dealer's ear and probably in touch with BMW North America. I strongly encourage you to pursue the issue and document what happens here. |
