Drivers Course
I am going to the Intensive Drivers Course in Bayreuth this weekend and I figured I would throw up a thread since there is one spot left for the english speaking class. Its 230 euro and you need a helmet. If anyone wants that last slot let me know.

Its with a german motorsports company and Jim Chambers (karussell) from M3post. He will be instructing the english speaking drivers and he's also a VLN driver as I have come to learn.

I sent Jim an email about that and he said its supposed to be clear and sunny in Bayreuth. I looked at the weather channel and Bayreuth is only gonna get an inch today which most likely wont stick to the ground.

Sorry guys I'll get this updated soon. The course was a lot of fun. It certainly gave me the opportunity to see some of the limits of my car.

It snowed here that weekend, so I didn't go to watch Rick. I probably should have - at least we would have some photos! I think Justin is too busy with packing for his ETS.

Guys, we had a great session. I'll let Justin fill you in from driver's perspective. He did great out there btw. Great car control!
Here are some photo's I posted in the M3 section. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=760769 I'm going to be at the Nürburgring on Nov 23-25th. Its the last open weekend. The Grand Prix track is also open separately. I have a few people signed up for guided tours and private lessons. The Grand Prix track is the best venue to practice because its relatively short, has all the different turn types, and plenty of wide open space. Winter tires are just fine too if so equipped. Any car is fine also so long as its in good shape. PM me if you want to join up. no experience required.

Our International Car Control Clinic was a great success.
We had 10 american participants out of 10 despite the inclement weather. We had 16 german participants come out and join us. We split the groups in two for the morning. Beginner and Advanced. For the beginner group, we spent the morning learning about what our cars can do at the limit of braking, steering, and accelerating. More importantly we experienced how our inputs can increase or decrease the amount of available traction. As speeds increased, we have to focus further down the course. We have to learn there are several steps of throttle an brake between On and Off. I think every student showed tremendous improvement within only a couple hours. The only way to do this is with practice and continuous feedback. Every student had me sitting in the passenger seat at least 3 times before they attempt to try it on their own (which is also very important). Once the exercises were completed we put all the students into the advanced students drift and slalom course. here we have you accelerate out of a second gear corner towards and apex cone and then apply throttle until you induce a slide onto the main runway (very wide open road!). we then teach counter steering and throttle inputs to hold the slide. everyone found this is harder to do than it looks. I can say that every student was able to hold a nice high speed drift for several seconds by the end of the activity. the afternoon we reconfigure the course into a road course. at first the beginner group was segregated while advanced students drove and then one by one we integrated each student. by the end of the day you could not tell which was which. we have some truly talented drivers in our group.

Great, thanks...
@ karussell, whats your driving background? Reading your post, it seems like you have a great grasp of English...Are you British? American? Other? Where do we find out more about the courses offered?
