265/235s on stock 264 wheels?
Hi everyone,
I'm almost due to get rid of the stock runflats on my 135i and I want to go wider as well. I'm thinking of doing Star Specs in 235/40/18 up front and 265/35/18 in back. My car is completely stock at the moment. Will I have any issues with rubbing on stock suspension or will I need to do fender rolling and camber adjustment? I know someone who's running 275s/245s on the stock 264s but they had to roll the fenders. I would like to avoid rolling the fenders. thanks |

I would like to know the same thing.....
I have a KW V2 Suspension but I'm almost at the highest you could possibly make the kit... I dont care about rolling fenders. And I would LOVE to run 245/275

Yeah lol. I think with my suspension setup the widest i could fit with the wheels would be 235 / 265...

My real concern isn't if 265/235 will fit on stock wheels. My concern is if they'll rub on stock suspension. if worse comes to worst I think I'm just gonna try it and report back. lol Here's the example of 275/245 |

I'm running 225/255 Star Specs on stock 264 wheels with no rubbing issues. One thing to keep in mind is that Star Specs run a little wider than other tires.
Your best bet is to reach out to Gill@Tirerack.com. |

I'll try to see if Gill@tirerack would know anything about the 1 series and this tire size. Thanks |

What does star specs mean? And please update your 235 / 265 if it worked or not plus any other things need to mod to match those sizes. Thx.
Kcc edit: Star Specs = Dunlop tires...thx...

If anyone would like to try 265s I have a nearly mint pair of Hankook V12s I'd be willing to sell them for $150 (both). The reason they are for sale is that they rubbed like hell on my Forgestars and I wasn't about to cut the fender or exagerate the camber. Stretched on OEMs and if you're willing to make it work, who knows?

Kcc, yeah star specs are Dunlops. Everyone on the forums just calls them star specs. I'll report back when I do it. Probably won't be for another month or two though. There's still a little bit of life left in my stock tires.
Plack; thanks for the offer on the hankooks but I'm already set on the star specs |

I was looking at getting Hankook V12s. I was thinking about 265/35/18 on the rear and 225/40/18 on the fronts. But it sounds like 265 might be a problem because of rubbing. So it looks like 255 is the way to go on the rear? Anyone heard of any problems with 225 on the fronts?

With 235/40R18 and 265/35R18 you'll at least need camber adjustments to not have rubbing issues, but with 225/40R18 and 255/35R18 will fit the stock suspension np. I went with 225/40R18 255/35R18.

the first comment on that youtube vid is asking about the tire sizes, and his first reply is "you will need to roll the fenders to fit that size." |

I have the pins removed and Hotchkis FSB as my only suspension mods:
My daily setup is 235/40s on the front stock BMW wheels. The rub ever so slightly on the front inner fender liner on the passenger side. I'd say it's not an issue. For autocross, I run 245/35 Hoosier R6s on 7.5" Breyton GTS-Rs in the front. They rub slightly on the shock body (only on the passenger side, it seems) and also rub on the inner fender liner and front lower control arm at full lock. All relatively minor. |

interesting. I guess I might have to remove the pins and get an alignment to fit the 235s up front.
However on the 2nd page of this thread Post #24 seems to have no problem with 235s up front. Even without the pins removed. I don't think the 261 M wheels are any different in dimensions from the 264s are they? Last edited by Top Gon; 11-23-2010 at 01:49 AM.. |

261Ms I believe are identical to the 264s in size/offset. |
