I extended the power train to 100k. Did it as a monthly plan. I think my last payment is next month. I think it was $2,600 to extend.

I have extended warranty and maintenance coverage on mechanical, such as clutch, brakes, etc.

I intend to keep mine forever. The ONLY thing that makes me wish I could sell it is the Alfa 4C...I really want one... but I would never sell the 1M - the only way I'd sell the 1M is if the dealer gives me the 4C Launch Edition at even exchange for my 1M, which I would just sell for massive mark-up profit and then buy another 1M with lower miles + a decent E30 M3 or an E39 M5. LOL

It's my only car, and even after only a couple hundred miles, I have little interest in driving anything else. Apparently it was a garage queen, owned by a collector in Seattle.

Looking for winter wheels and tires today. Thinking about going with 18" wheels next summer, but $604 for a full set of Pirelli P Zero Silver Blackwall (2011 production at the Tire Rack) is such a steal that I may stay with the 19" OEM. That's less than half the price of a set of PS2's, without considering the cost of new wheels.

I'm considering a set of these for winter wheels: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1003422 but I'm not clear on the appropriate offset. Anyone know the OEM F&R offsets? And with a narrower wheel, should the offset increase or decrease?

My car is all original, all OEM, service records, etc.

BSM with Premium and Convenience Packages. Very clean car.

I will have it for sale in about 60 days and I was hoping to get mid-$50s. I think that is fair market value and BSM is the rarest color.

Nooooo.... not you too! Why is everyone selling?

Maybe, I need to ask Max to make some larger 1:1 Minichamps models.

Have a look on Autotrader - there are a couple of dozen M1s for sale. People betting on the side of the value appreciation ending?

nah...I've been watching the 1M market like an eagle for 2 years prior to purchasing one. At any given time there have always been between 15 and 25 for sale....prices were at the lowest I saw about a year ago....ticked up a tiny bit after the spring.

That's pretty cool. I looked at extending on a used one and they were talking $5800 for 3 years more.

I think that definitely adds to the price as it opens the car up to those that have to take out a loan on the car. It's hard form many to take out a loan on a 55-60K car with no warranty. Especially high mileage cars where you are likely to run into fuel pump issues, window regulator problems, electric water pump, diff, clutch and possibly turbo issues during the loan period.

Check the winter tire thread: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533397

My current winter tire set-up: Pirelli Winter 270 Sottozero Serie II (front: 245/35R19 93W XL | rear: 265/35R19 98W XL).

My future winter tire set-up: Michelin Pilot Alpin (front: 245/35R19 93W XL | rear: 265/35R19 98W XL) (this type of tire has been homologated by Porsche as standard (winter) tyre for the 911).

Generally speaking, 18" allows better driving than 19" as winter tyre size.

I have no extended warranty but after owning a rare gem of a 135i, I was willing to take the risk. Although I did have a few random limp modes while 100% stock with <1000 miles on the clock I never had any other problems after that. My fuel pump never gave me any trouble even after I had reached over 60,000 miles on THAT car. The 1M has been grand just as well. I only went back stock once my clutch started wearing down from 50,000 miles of 400+ wtq hard acceleration and hard spankings. I plan on upgrading my clutch from here and then going full out into my own Project ///M.

Sorry for off topic, but I wouldn't let my 1M go for any price.

for classic cars, average at which cars are being sold privately nationally = market value.

values more or less follow this rule.

140%(+) like new, museum
120% extremely well kept, 100% original or professionally restored with original parts 100% documented.
100% well kept, mostly original.
20% cannot be restored, donor's car.

Collector value of most 1ms are in the 120% zone. It's freaking 3 years old!!!. in 10-15years from now, 30k miles, or 10k miles will be irrelevant. they will be both low millage. (considering that the average collector puts less than 1k miles per year on cars).

Classic cars follow market rules and prices will vary over time.

This is from a collector's point of view, not a dealer or speculator.

I imagine many are sky high prices with owners that really aren't prepared to sell.

For example, first 75k takes mine !
I don't expect any buyers. But if I place an ad like that it will be one of the 12-15 " for sale "

After driving my 1M on the stock wheels through three Portland winters I can tell you that you won't need rain tires and you don't ever want to drive this thing in snow anyway. Just rent a Subaru if it snows or if they gravel the roads.

the 1M should be fine in snow with the right tires......driving in snow is crazy fun so it's worth the effort to get a 2nd set of tires/wheels if one does get winter.
