Thanks guys, I ordered the wheels 18x8 ET38 front and 18x9 ET45 rear. I decided to just jump on it and see what happens, I just fell in love with the wheels because it was pretty affordable for a mesh style wheel with a lip ($250 a wheel), I am a little worried about how it will all pan out, but if the fenders need rolling so be it I suppose, if I ever change out the wheels again in the future that will leave me more room for increased tread for a more 1er friendly fitment. Tell me if the following is too much though for fender rolling (was quoted at $125 a fender), does that sound reasonable to you guys? Anyone roll their fenders, did it really help, how much play did you guys have afterwards? Does it drastically affect the look of the 1er? As for the tires, I might change out to a new set, anyone have any ideas? Dunlop, Bridgestone, BF Goodrich, Yokohama, Continental, Nitto, Toyo, Hankook?

On the stock suspension you should be fine. But if you do decide to switch tires I'd go with 225/40fr and 245/35 rear. Falkens run the smallest, then probably Toyo then Nittos. I'd probably get Toyo t1rs, Hankook v12s, or Nitto Invos in that order, all good choices.

Just out of curiousity has anyone rolled there rear fenders with any success? Is it very difficult, with my rear offset of ET45 on 18x9 with a 255 tire, would it still rub. If so by how much? I really don't want to have order a new set of rear tires if its not necessary, but if moving back to a set of 245/35/18 would prevent any rubbing/rolling in the first place than that's what I will do. Also do you think lowering would work? Or how about stiffer springs? Do they make springs close to our stock height, but stiffer? Maybe it could help with the inherent body roll our cars already have while helping with this wheel fitment?

I also was curious in terms of switching my current size tires back to stock. If I move back to 245/35/18 on a 9" wide wheel will it look stretched? If so then I might as well changed the fronts too to make it have that same stretched look, so would my current size of 225/40/18 provide that look or would I also have to bring that back to stock as a 215/40/18 to achieve this? Also anyone know if BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW NTs run any narrower? I heard these run pretty well in the dry and I like the aggressive tread design and they don't seem to cost much compared to my Continentals.

I am running this setup.
Wheels:ASA AR1
Front 18x8 ET 40
Rear 18x9 ET 45
Tires: Hankook VENTUS V12 EVO
Front 225/40 ZR18
Rear 255/35 ZR18

No rubbing and I did not roll the fenders of anything.

BTW did you check Tire Rack? That’s where I got mine and they have the ASA AR1’s in Black like the wheels in the picture you posted. They were about $90 a wheel cheaper than yours and about the same weight.

Novator, when you roll the fenders you are really just trying to flatten the inner lip to gain some space, maybe 5-7mm. Some have the lip trimmed off which gains more space. After flattening or trimming the lip some still rub and use masking tape inside the fender to figure out where they rub and then they try to further push this area out of the way. I'd definitely pay someone to do the initial roll or trim, the price you mentioned is appropriate to slightly high for rolling. Since you are just trying to work with the lip it should not effect the appearance of the car but actually you usually see an angle in lip of aggressively rolled fenders, like mine.

I've not been exposed to BF Goodrich t/a's but it seems to me that most American tires tend to run on the large side. Usually a 235 or maybe even a 245 fits an 8" wide wheel properly, a 255 to 265 fits a 9incher.

You'll rub more if you lower (you really don't need to worry so much until you lower, that's where all this comes more into play). Less rub if you add camber. Less if add stiffer springs but I doubt you can find stiffer springs that don't lower or even coilovers that you can set as high as stock.

Here's an older pic of my car. The my wheel sizes are in my signature. These front tires were Falken 225s and rears were Hankook 245s. Both pretty equally stretched but technically a 245 Falken rear would have looked noticeably more stretched. Look at the reflection of my rear fender and you can see that it's been rolled.

IDBMW, you haven't experienced any rubbing whatsoever with the Hankook Ventus V12 EVOs? If I read right and you did mean 255/35/18 and not 245/35/18 then I think these will be the tires I will mount on my new wheels and leave the Continentals on the stock wheels (i.e. event of flat tire and need to wait until new tires can be mounted and winter driving). As for rolling, if the issue at hand is just reducing or choosing a narrower running tire then I'd rather spend the cash on brand new rubber than rolling since rolling is a more permanent thing and I really don't like the potential of cracking/peeling my paint. The local body shop that BMW uses (Central Auto Body and Paint) is very professional, but also incredibly expensive and probably is the most booked on the island. Also Eyeman, do you think if I ran 225/40/18 & 255/30/18 in your current size for Falkens, do you think I'd still experience rubbing without a roll? If possible I'd like to keep 225 (f) and 255 (r) just need on advice/personal experience on possible tire manufacturers who produce not so square tires. Thanks again guys, I appreciate every single comment and piece of advice. You have no idea the sort of piece of mind and calm you guys are giving me, this is why I love communities such as 1Addicts I can't wait to move back to the mainland next year, maybe meet you guys at MFest or something

Okay, in my quest for narrower tires I found out my current Continental Extreme Contact DWs have an even narrower tread width than the Hankook Ventus V12 Evos by .5" (f) and .1" (r) so I might not need to order new tires. I am still trying to find tread width info on the Toyo T1R and Falken 452s for their size in 255/35/18. Again so many thanks to all who chimed in.

Also here is where I got my info according to TireRack (look under specs):Continental Extreme Contact DW->

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo->

My wheels came in today and originally were to be mounted tomorrow (Saturday afternoon), but by some strange sort of luck on my way to the shop to just check out the wheel, they had managed to fit me in to get them fitted and mounted up. First the lip on this wheel is pretty big (dollar bill and a quarter lengthwise) and the finish is pretty impressive. Had this wheel been a three piece it would have been pure sex times a million, but as it stands now I am completely in love. No rubbing at the moment, time will tell and as I have passengers and gear in the trunk (boot). I am debating whether or not I will post pics of the car now as a whole, it was pretty dirty (rains every day here on my end of the island) and I took it with my camera phone. Tomorrow is Cars & Coffee so maybe some proper ones after a good cleaning and I will post. Thanks guys for the advice and knowledge and a shout out to Revolution Motorsports for dealing with my constant calls and questions. I love 1Addicts!!!! Stay tuned and watch this space for updates Aloha

PS-Due to the lighter weight of the wheels (I believe two lbs. lighter than stock fronts and four pounds lighter than stock rears) it feels like I have a lightened flywheel and the car is more responsive to throttle inputs and just feels all around much quicker than before, can't wait to move back to the mainland and do Dinan Stage 3.

Those wheels look fantastic! I love anything that reminds me of the earlier 911 Fuchs. Can you not fit the BMW roundel cap in the center?

I'll be honest, I haven't tried but I really do like the ones that came with the wheels as the cap has a carbon fiber face to it. My original caps are still on my stock wheels which are at a coworker's house on the other end of the island as I still live in the barracks (Marines) and I do not have anywhere to keep them. I absolutely love these wheels and have gotten compliments and stares everywhere I go since mounting them.
