It pulled strong and if I hadn't run out of road I probably would have seen 185. These numbers are from the cars trip computer. Dan -

You may want to try PFC-06 pads. Not quite the same bite as PFC-01, but they last a long time and aren't too bad on rotors.

179 mph -- far out! However, be mindful that BMW AG can retrieve top speed and rpm (and the memory can't be avoided/erased by any of the aftermarket tuners).

I checked around and the PF 06 wasn't available for this brake setup. That was my first choice.

awesome Dan...and you are nuts...hehe.

Did you change the brake fluid too?

I'm gonna track the car stock in a couple weeks (if i hit the 1200 mile mark) and will start tweaking after that. If the PFC06 is available, i'll get that, else it'll be the 01.

Yeah. Super Blue. I've had good luck with this fluid in the race car and the color change makes it nice when you are flushing the old fluid.

Hey Dan - so any updates on what bimmerworld thinks of the car? Or what they may be planning? Or what coilovers they may be favoring for the little beastie?

No, I haven't had the time to bring it up to their HQ and they are busy with Continental Tire racing right now. Seth drove it on the street last week and will drive it a little at Road Atlanta on Monday so we will have a better idea how to proceed. He took it on some familiar roads and commented how in one section most cars would understeer but the 1M actually felt like the rear stepped out slightly so that's a good thing. I have a short break from racing so I'm going to try to arrange a drive up to VA soon. We may aim for their Moton street kit but that's just speculation at this point.

Where's that dyno Dan?

EDIT: If anyone has kids, the above statement is not to be confused with Dino Dan.

Haha, good one!

TRM is booked solid with work and until they are caught up I can't get the car on the dyno. I spoke with them yesterday and they want to get it on the rollers but since their dyno installation was delayed they are working around the clock to get other projects completed. If I go up to BimmerWorld we will probably put it on their dyno so that may happen sooner than later.

Talking about HP/Torque...
The other day I pulled away from a stop in 1st gear (MDM/M On) and eased into full throttle. The car lurched forward and at around 4500 rpms the back tires start chirping. They ripped all the way to redline and then gave a nice chirp and a rear end wiggle when shifting into 2nd gear. Talk about a hooligan asking for trouble!

RS19 Yellow - You are going to like them a lot ... I use them on M3 and they work really good at Laguna Seca which is hard on your brakes ...

can't wait to put them on 1m ...

Dan, I'd love to see some pics of your car from a full car perspective showing what the lamin-x gunsmoke headlights look like in everyday conditions. thanks!

I'll post some pics from Road Atlanta. I'm all over the place (away from the 1M) this weekend.

96 degrees at Road Atlanta on Monday! That should mean a track temp 120+. Does anyone want to make a bet on the 1M going limp?

That'll be great for testing whether the cooling improvements on the 1M are sufficient for use on the track.

Will you be able to monitor iat, water and oil temps?

If it does go limp (and, of course, I hope it doesn't), there are a number of "fixes" available.

Looking forward to your report!

Neil

I have the REV app on my iPhone so I can monitor the temps.

"If it does go limp (and, of course, I hope it doesn't), there are a number of "fixes" available."

What might those be?

Dan-

If limp home triggered by oil temp, I'd go with the Stett Stage 2 oil cooler (with thermostat).

Also, if used with a better intercooler (and/or meth), some of the aftermarket tunes might also help since the less timing retard should produce less heat.

Ah, I thought you meant things I could do at the track tomorrow. It was a long day touring a new race track and then taking care of a 2 year old.
I will most likely be upgrading the intercooler to an Active Autowerks (http://store.bimmerworld.com/active-...kit-p1155.aspx) at some point but we will see how it does tomorrow. It's going to be strange driving my home track with a car that is faster in a straight line than my race car and yet has no real aero downforce. At least it has ABS. It looks like there are only 14 other cars in A group so at least there won't be a lot of traffic.
