It's a never ending story! I stopped counting a long time ago on all my cars. I just measure how much enjoyment they brought regardless how much many burned in some.

Absolutely. Anyone thinking otherwise is in the wrong hobby. Nothing else brings me as much enjoyment so it's all worth it to me. I've wanted one of these cars for a long time so now is my chance to build the vision I've had in my head all these years

I've been drooling over the Nelson steering wheels for a while, would love to fondle one of those... Probably a more conservative Sport version, all leather & only flat on bottom. No alcantara on the wheel for me- anyplace else, just not the steering wheel...

And I track every penny spent except for fuel.
No, I do not share this spreadsheet with The Wife....

That is who I plan on doing mine. After looking at all the others, Nelson seems to be doing the best work. I'm thinking CF top and bottom with perforated leather sides and small tricolor 12'oclock stripe. I agree, alcantara would not be great for a steering wheel. At least one that is daily driven

This is likely in the wrong section but I can't figure out where to ask. Can anyone help me in getting a car PPI'd in the North Carolina area? Asheville is I think the closest area to where the car is. The owner referred me to Chris Joyner BMW but can anyone help me take a look at it or get it brought to another reputable shop (as a backup). Joyner seems to be a really busy place, no return calls yet.

Many thanks in advance mates!

The 128i stock rear subframe mount weakness really rears it's ugly head when driving on sweeping turns with wavy undulations, not necessarily sharp edged bumps. I also found that some 128i's display this behavior more than others. Perhaps your original mounts were in better shape than the ones on my first 128i.
I'm having M3 RSFB's and a rear sway bar installed as I type this. I'm capable of doing it myself, but I just don't want to get that involved in my driveway. I will definitely report on any perceived improvement soon!

Got around to fixing up a nasty rock chip in my windscreen from my last track day. Used the regular Permatex kit from Advance Auto, pretty impressed with the results!

I have a tiny crack, half moon shape, only about 0.25 inch square, that I want to do this to. Can only see it if you look at it square on/directly. I wouldn't care about it except it's, of course, directly in my line of sight so it's always there if I focus on the windshield instead of ahead of me...

I just worry about the resin turning yellow or otherwise aging poorly and making the problem worse...

Depending on your area, I'd be more worried about it spreading. I had this happen to me in summer, didn't fill it and literally the FIRST day it was cold out in winter and I put on my heat the windshield cracked all the way through

At the risk of it expanding this afternoon.....

Has been this way since I drove the car home almost two years ago to the day. FL winters aren't much to speak of, but still saw several below freezing morning commutes to work with the defroster running... Hasn't changed the least bit so far.

One of these days I'll probably just schedule to have a new windshield installed, and the morning of give it a love tap with a hammer. Gotta love a free windshield state...

I've seen a number of decent looking aftermarket lights that mention they are halogen only but I keep asking myself, why? The aftermarket lights are xenon/HID just mentioning that they can only go on halogen cars
Sorry to bump myself here, just hoping someone has real info on this. Are the plugs not going to match/my car blow up?

I had Safelite do something similar to repair the windscreen on my old mazda3 years ago, and while the results weren't as good (I think they rushed pulling a vacuum on the chip and left air bubbles in), the resin didn't yellow or age. I'd say it's worth the risk of yellowing vs having the chip/cracks expand.

Not exactly BMW related but me and pops put the radiator back into the hot rod, also did the first start up since putting a 6/71 root supercharger on the 494 big block stroker. To say I got a hard on was an understatement. Can't wait to actually ride around in this beast of a car. I'll have to see I can get a nice video and youtube for you guys.

Fucked up and got a ticket 78 in a 55 construction zone today. Got home and bought a Uniden R3 off Amazon. I'm pissed at myself for not already buying it. This is going to be a very expensive ticket. Haven't had one since I think 2009.

I got safelite to fill a chip I got in my windshield the same week I bought the car. It made the chip 75% less visible and it won't spread. It cost a lot for what it is. At the time I only had a $250 comprehensive deductible so I ate the $130 fill cost. It's still perfectly clear resin. Hasn't changed state since Dec 2016.

Keep in mind: I got it done the next day since if you let it sit, it can get dirt in it. So your results may not be as good as mine if it's been there that long.
