why do people say it won't be an ///M just because it doesn't have quad exhausts? the e30 and e36 didn't have quads. maybe they're trying to save weight. a center exhaust would be pretty cool though...

Nope. Not reason enough to be an 'is'. Its gonna be an M, we pretty much know that for sure.

regardless thats still a fender cover. the real M1 fender will be slightly smaller than the one you see there.

It is good to be in touch with the testing of M1. On these pictures, I especially like the rear fenders on the red mule. Thanks for the post.

enough of the Quad debate.

We should talk about how this car doesn't have the Photoshopped Power dome hood!!!

No power dome hood....means not muscular as the photoshopped pic.

Have you ever looked at the pic in your sig? That Z3 looks remarkably like an e30 with 4 exhausts sticking out the rear! Nevermind the other two M's with quads...

Like I said earlier I dont get that some people dont realise that a test mule could have 1-2-3 exhaust it doesnt matter. The car wont even sport those wheels etc......sedona red might not even being offered etc..test mules......
That car could be a 123D-128I(M-sport)-135......we dont know...its just a mule so who knows.......weve seen Volvo mules desguised as Taurus....Audi Q5 in the B6 A4 avant form etc.........what about those driving wooden crate so called mule X5-X6 that we've seen a few years ago.

Look at this Nissan GT-R

Q5

X3

Explorer (Taurus-X body with Flex front end)

Front wings

I still wonder if there will be vents in the front wings behind the front wheel arch as in my rendering?

Seriously, the argument of "this won't be a ///M but an 'is' because it doesn't have quads" and the replies to it are really making a big contribution to global warming.

Those are good and valid examples. While BMW does conceal prototypes with heavy camouflage at times, it never goes to the extend of disguising the car as another model. At most I have seen and recalled is it slapping a fake 7 series like tail light reflector on the new 5 series mule.

Another point is it doesn't make sense that BMW marketing division (SCOTTXX) explicitly tells us that these are M1 mules but in reality they are something else.

I am certain these are M1 mules. Like you said, the number of exhaust can change. I also don't believe these are production mules just yet.
