That was a great line. If it really matters to me that much I'd just go out and get it at that point. Gotta love typical sales tactic to create sense of urgency - Buy it now or it will be gone. Where will cars going to go if I don't buy it? Disappear into thin air?

Limited production? I am going to change cars in 5-6 years anyways, I don't mind used/preowned. What really matters is if the car delivers. If it doesn't I don't see myself dying to buy one.

Scott, surely you've relayed many enthusiasts' discontent with BMW's decision to abandon naturally aspirated engines, and specifically, the visceral bond that such motors form with their drivers to your higher ups. Perfecting this connection is arguably what made BMW famous among its most diehard base over the last 25-30 years. I understand that a company must always grow its business by going after a broader base of customer. I also understand that as a consequence, such a company can't continue to target the small, enthusiast core that brought it success so many years ago. And I get that a few hundred (tops) angry, mostly anonymous users on some forum can have no hope of swaying a multinational corporation with annual revenue in the billions of dollars. That all said what do the people at BMW really feel about this seachange? And I'm not looking for the corporate line here -- tell us honestly what the old timers and the new blood at the company feel about adopting a broader strategy that will alienate its core base. You have no problem giving away the company's product roadmap months and months before the press find out, so surely you pull some weight over there and would be will within your purview to speak candidly about this topic.

Oh my, what an ego...

Tell me, does BMW AG approve of or encourage you to make statements like this when acting as a representative of the company? If you worked for me and made a post like this I would assign you to a far corner of the world and then send you a two-word email: "You're fired."

Not only an inappropriate remark, but complete, total, absolute bullshit...

I think he was joking.

Don't take everything so seriously.

After all this is only an online forum that any Tom, Dick or Harry can join.

It is contributed to by people who have nothing better to do but to give out free advice to people who they don't even know.

Lol@scotts qoute.

Even if you want one you can t get one.

Most 1M are sold out already. Also in Europe. Even on M-power.com the CM is saying if you want to drive early you better hurry ordering one.

Technology will change - (advancing or not), and we have no option but to move along with it. I would say the next gen turbo cars might start solving some of the problems of high end play and turbo lag.

We haven't really seen it yet, but may be the MP4-12C would be the first of many amazing turbo engines. I know BMWs are only a fraction of its cost but it will eventually caught up to what it can do.

F1 is also going 1.6L 4 bangers to be more intune with the future of the car industry, and I am sure they will have to address some of the issues we are currently having with turbos, and they will trickle down to road cars.

Turbo s are for certain not my favourite car. But the one series is favourite bmw.

So my choice is limited if you want an ///M series car from a one series.

So i hope they have the turbo lag figured out.

Can't wait till we see a video of you going sideways in a 1///M (and balancing it with the throttle).

I for one think that the M should go on cars that deserve it. The X3 is a "mommy go getter" Go get the grocery's, the kids, ect.... I don't care how much money they throw at it, or what they put on it to make it faster it will always be that in my eyes.

The X5 and X6 M's are cool and I like them because there are other cars like the Cayenne and Range Rover Supercharge to play with (or a Lamborghini LM002) and go after. There are no Q5 or RX's that tinker with sporty-ness just appearance packages.

I have a friend that works with BMW and when the Z4-35is came out he said that was the answer to the older M-Z4 that BMW was not planning on making the M.

I say put ALL the M money towards the New F series M3, Finish the F-M5, and make the new M6 make the Merc SL AMG look like a kiddy toy! That's what I'd like to see!

Speaking of which, I saw this Alpina M3 in action at Infineon, it smoked every single thing they threw at it. Was driven by no other than Andy Bovensiepen - the son of the founder of Alpina. We were in R8s and RS 4s and had 0 chance, heck, even 997 GT3s got embarrassed.

Right, whatever...I'm with oldschool.

When BMW decides to run a serious marketing campaign targeted at adults again (rather than teenagers), I will tune in for real. So much hype generated by marketers these days. I guess it sells.

LOL... well.. since the boss of BMW M, Dr. Kay Segler said this......

"The BMW 1 Series M Coupé is M technology at its purest. If you miss out this opportunity, you’ll only have yourself to blame.”

http://www.m-power.com/_open/b/close...d=2253&lang=en

I'll bet the boss wouldn't be too upset...
