This is my current situation as I got a nail in the shoulder of my rear left tyre. Bob Jane has refused to repair it or mount my spare 255 RE-11's because they are too worn. I understand they have a duty of care though.

Fortunately, I keep a Slime Tyre Compressor in the boot of my car and I've been pumping my tyres up every morning or anytime I leave home. I know it's ghetto to pump up a BMW but I was prepared to wait for the tyres to arrive from Tirerack to save myself the cash. There was no way I was going to pay $1,000 per corner.

I am assuming both you and aus135i have the RE-11 as opposed to RE-11S which is the semi slicks. Does anyone know where I may be able to buy the RE-11S?

Yes, the RE-11's not the RE-11S which is the semi-slick version. No idea where you can get them but I suggest PM'ing Gill Gilmer and he'll look after you

after having a chat to a few guys, it's just time consuming for me, and nothing better than what you can get from tire rack. so im not going to attempt a group buy.

I just ordered a set of Michi Pilot Super Sports from the rack.

looking forward to feeling the difference between rft's and non!

Mind me asking what size and how much delivered? After hearing some good reviews about them, I am keen as mustard to order a set for some new wheels arriving later (XXR 527's... oh yeah)

Fronts 225/40/18

Rears 255/35/18 On the OEM wheels.

Cost delivered $1282 USD which is about $1200 AUS and cheaper than about $800 per corner locally!!

Don't remember the exact cost because it's all lumped into a total including other bits that'll go on my car. Will definitely be balancing and aligning after they go on.

I did not get a comfort kit...which in retrospect I should have. There is a pump and sealant in the boot of the car, does that do the job or is it for RFTs only?

Yep, mine does in the under trunk compartment where the battery is. Can of goo and an electronic compressor.

Michelin Pilot SSs

I'm sorely tempted to buy now before (a) the AU$ goes down and (b) the price of tyres goes up past the $1000 duty limit.

Trouble is, the car I am about to get will be brand spanking new and therefore the tyres should last for say a year.

Question - will stored tyres suffer any ill affects kept for this long? I've seen bike tyres go shiny and hard over time from lack of use. I think it's the organic rubber component going off. Is there a practical way to preserve the tyres in as new condition until needed?

what tyres are coming on the 1M? surely they'll be good?
I have to call around and find a shop to put the new tyres on, give me a wheel balance and alignment.

Any recommendations around Newtown or near the city?
